I am off to my little sister's hen do in Portugal in a month. I am 41, size 18-20 (big saggy tummy and hips), leg's definitely not a good feature, arms not too bad. 36 GG/H top size,do have a waist. I have absolutely no idea what to wear/pack. 3 days of activities, including a catamaran. Everyone else is size 10 early 30 something and extremely glamorous (including my best mate, who may not be 30 something but looks amazing). Please help- tell me what to wear. 2 nights out, boat trip and sightseeing. Budget not enormous. I have no style- it's all about damage control. I don't think I've bought anything not from a supermarket for 10 years.......

I'd go for a capsule wardrobe of 3 colours max:

  • linen shorts
-linen trousers
  • 3 short sleeved tops
  • cotton/linen dresses
  • 2 swimsuits
  • beach/pool cover up

Take some nice sandals & beach bag, get a nice haircut before you go & you'll look fab

H&M is my main go-to for most of these. Primark has sometimes come up trumps for shorts & tshirts, but you never know until you go there.

shorts
trousers
T-shirts
dress
dress
bag

In a month you can lose 3 kilos if you put your mind to it, and then the clothes you already have will look better. Not that you shouldn't treat yourself to something new.

Don’t offer weight loss advice to people who aren’t asking for it.

The OP is here to talk about clothes. You haven’t the first clue about the rest of her circumstances.

Cos have some really good quality summer dresses that are more expensive than supermarked ones but will last . They also look cool, have interesting little details and come up big. I attach examples of ones in bright colours but they have lots in neutrals. Monki are also very reasonable and well sized. I would go for linen too in case it's hot. Uniqlo have some simple linen things.

Joanie clothing do really lovely dresses and each item has its measurements so it's easy to get it right.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. Am going to buy a few dresses and maybe some wide leg trousers. It's a shame SHEIN is the devil's brand, as my Facebook keeps showing me lovely dresses!

If you're going sailing you'll need shorts. You don't want to be exposed with just a swimsuit regardless of size. Plus chub rub is a killer.

🤣chub rub..Good description
Loose light pull on draw string linen trousers from uniqlo. Calf length. They will do the job when you're sailing if you are worrying about getting your legs out. And they dry quickly if you fall in.
