What spring summer jackets do you wear?

I have a light waterproof jacked that I wear for hiking and rainy days, and a massive ward padded coat I love for winter.

But I would like a nice jacket to put on over a summer dress, or jeans on cooler days that looks as home on the school run as it does for work. I've had a red cord jacket before which i loved. And I tried this Joe Browns one but it was too long in the arm. I'd prefer something brighter, I saw a lady leaving the pub the other day with a gorgeous pink I think linen jacket with 3/3 sleves that has inspired me. I have never owned a denim jacket it doesn't feel like me, suede I quite like, not sure about leather unless it was really lightweight and bright as they get hot and bulky. Any ideas?

Whistles do this jacket in lots of colours - it's sort of waffle jersey weave, so quite breathable.

I have recently bought this jacket in navy from Whistles.It looks great on and the sleeves are a good fit for my orang utan length arms.
Like the OP I was looking for a spring/summer jacket.

I like the whistles one, but if it works with orangutan length arms then my T-rex ones are going to be drowned.

If you have particularly short arms, you might be better getting a jacket you love and then getting the sleeves shortened - that's a fairly simple alteration.

@TheWildOnesRunningWithTheDogs I tried that with the Joe Browns one but because it has piping/detailing the seamstress couldnt do it. My arms are in proportion.....just I'm very petite (under 5ft) but there is a lot less choice in petite jackets.

I now own this absolute beauty. It's so soft and drapey. COME ON SUNSHINE!!

I have a pale pink blazer and a white one from Autograph look great with jeans or dresses.

I saw this in H & M, it's actually much nicer in real life, comes in cream and light khaki too.

I've been looking at the Whistles one too. May have to wait for a bit, everyone is paying me late this month!

I've got one like the h&m above, same colour, but less pockets. It's a good mid weight, from M&S. Should have sized down one, but may shrink a bit.

I just ordered the Joe brown one and a pair of doc marten sandals. This board will be the death of me!

Zara has some really nice lined linen ones ATM.

I've just returned the whistles one I'm petite and found the ten too big, it was long in the arms and too wide in the arms.

Thanks for the info @lindyloo57 I was very tempted to send for the whistles one as it seems so popular.

I am also T-rexy in the arms and have the Whistles jacket (in navy). I'm too lazy/tight to get the sleeves shortened, so I just roll or push them up a bit. Because it's jersey, that works fine.

I have that in black - I bought it five years ago but it's one of the basics they do every year. It's been great for work meetings and smart evenings out in warmer weather.

I hate summer jackets! In the winter the right coat never seems an issue- big puffer coat, smart long wool coat or a fur jacket seem to cover every situation and look right with winter clothes.

In summer though, it doesn't seem to matter how many jackets I buy, I never seem to have the right one to go with every outfit- summer clothes look best without a coat.

I always seem to rely on a denim jacket, a black linen blazer and a raincoat. The biggest issue for me is when you want to be dressed up in something like sandals and a midi dress and it's wet- the first two won't keep you dry and a waterproof looks silly and spoils your outfit- I guess umbrellas are then required!
