Hair dye query - help :(

I've been getting a blonde balayage for the last few years but recently decided I wanted to go back to my natural darker brown colour.

I went to the hairdressers at the weekend and she dyed my hair brown (but looked more red than brown!) and now that I've washed my hair tonight, the colour is already fading on the bottom of my hair. The top is still a dark red/brown colour and the bottom where I was blonde is a light brown! I can't believe the colour would fade so quickly...? It's not that noticeable now but I'm worried it'll only get worse and worse over the next couple of weeks...

Can I dye over my entire head with a brown colour myself or would this make things worse? Help!

I guess it's the toner washing out? I think I've seen on here someone recommend a trip to 'Sally's' if you have one nearby and they can advise?

I have home dyed my hair dark brown many times over the years. My tips when using permanent dye are: get a much lighter shade than you want as they get significantly darker; shampoo the colour out, even if the pack only says rinse out; go for a golden shade, if you don’t like red; first put on roots only for about 10-15 mins and then run through to the ends for and leave on for another 10- knock about 10 mins of time off the development time suggested on the packet, and get a good deep conditioning treatment to use afterwards.

This is not foolproof and has worked on my hair, but your hair issue is different as you have dark roots already. If you feel cheated by the hairdresser’s job, go back and speak to them about it.

Contact the hairdresser and tell them what has happened. The red will be because you've gone from blonde to dark, to stop it turning green it needs red pigment putting back in.
