Best vitamin c serum

ralaa · 25/04/2023 07:31

I am trying to find a good vitamin C serum.

It looks as though 20% serum is what I should be aiming for.

I have used the revolution one and can't say I saw much difference.

Any recommendation? Thanks

For vitamin C to be effective you need it in the 15-20% range. Skinceuticals is the gold standard but is extremely spendy but Geek & Gorgeous C-Glow is a very good dupe for under £10 and they now have a uk website. If you’re not in the UK then Timeless is also excellent.

Came here to recommend Geek & Gorgeous C-Glow and pleased to see @TattiePants beat me to it 😁 It's really good! I used to use Timeless but you can't seem to get it in this country anymore, but it was about three times the price and I liked it less than C-Glow.

TattiePants · 25/04/2023 10:11

@TomatoSoup69 lots of people seemed to start using Geek and Gorgeous after Timeless became unavailable here. I agree with you, I don’t think I’d go back to Timeless even if they changed the formulation so it could be sold in the UK.

I forgot to add, if you do try G&G OP then also buy the mini empty bottle for about £1. That way you can decant a weeks worth of product at a time and keep the rest in the fridge.

Not cheap but I like these ones from body shop

I don't rate the skin saints one form tescos. I tried it in a an attempt to save money but it's no where near as good

Medik8 Super C Ferulic is a middle ground between Skinceuticals and High Street

HappiDaze · 25/04/2023 10:53

I've been using Dermalogica biolumin C serum and it's evened out my skin tone nicely.

I swapped over from retinol to give my skin a rest so I know it's just the Vit c that's made the difference

I'm back onto retinol now as I like to switch things around

Can I ask does it sit ok under make up? I had vitamin c serums cause pilling in the past (admittedly cheapy ones!)

ralaa · 25/04/2023 21:24

Thanks for the suggestions of Geek and gorgeous serum.

Can you wear this under make up? I normally put my vitamin C serum on and then a moisturiser, foundation etc.

Thanks

I love Vitamin C.

Favourites are Murad Vitamin C serum. The travel size lasts a while and required less upfront investment.

I am currently using The Ordinary in silicon which is great. High concentration but I have used vit c for so long I can take it.

The Inkey list one is a good intro vitamin c serum.

I used the bodybshop vitamin c spf for years and loved it. It has been discontinued but would consider any of the others in the vitamin c range. I am pretty sure they do a serum too.

I put under moisteriser. Never had a problem with make up over.

Can you get a vitamin C and hyaluronic acid together?

TattiePants · 25/04/2023 21:59

@ralaa yes it’s a very thin texture and sits perfectly under other skincare and makeup. It’s made fresh every week so if it’s out of stock check back later that week.

I like Inkey List but no real experience of any others.
@marahippo I put my vit c and hyaluronic acid on at same time, but separate products (but both pretty cheap, hado labo and Inkey list).

IDontHateRainbows · 18/04/2024 14:50

I usually use the Sunday Riley CEO serum but its very pricey so I've switched to the Medik8 C Tetra - heard good things about it but too early to tell yet.

I justify the cost by saying it will save me on buying foundation (just use a tinted primer) as my skin won't need it!

ASighMadeOfStone · 18/04/2024 14:51

Old thread, but lots of vitamin C serums have hyaluronic together. Most serums are hyaluronic based if you can't be faffed with loads of products.
