IPL: can I tweeze out a hair I've just zapped?

I don't want thick black hairs sitting on my face so I tweeze them out after I've zapped them. Please tell me I don't have to leave them there to fall out on their own for the treatment to work?

Surely you have to leave them there otherwise aren't you ripping out the root so the IPL isn't able to do anything?

Walkingtheplank · 24/04/2023 20:10

I end up doing this - but I think it negates the IPL.

OkayBozo · 24/04/2023 20:12

But haven't you already zapped the root before pulling it out?

A quick google gives you the answer In depth but it’s actually a NO.

Great

Can’t you shave or dermaplane first, then the root bit is still there?

LadyLapsang · 24/04/2023 23:17

No. Shaving only with laser, unless you are going to have electrolysis and then there are rules on timing etc. I think you shave 12-24 hours before, then at 4-5 days post treatment.

But I have a Lumea which is IPL, and the instructions are to shave first - ie immediately before. This is what I did before I zapped my armpits and legs. It worked perfectly.

OkayBozo · 25/04/2023 07:16

Yes it's just this is my face not my legs and it sucks leaving huge black chin hairs sitting there. Ill just have to remove the ones that I really can't leave and put up with the others :-(

You need to shave first or the visible part of the hair will absorb all the light and the ipl won't work anyway.

You have to shave before lumea. Shave and re-zap then keep shaving off the growth before it falls out.
