Argh bras are killing me

I have chucked a load of my wired slightly padded bras out because the wiring has suddenly started rubbing where my cleavage (not that I have one is) so kind of where the cups meet. I am pretty slim with small boobs so can't work out if it is because I have a lack of fat there and the wires are digging in, or I am wearing the wrong size (32B). I have bralettes which are so comfortable, but they're not flattering as they flatten me out.

Is there an alternative option? I can't go without as I am at the age where I am starting to droop a bit.

What's your under and over bust measurements?
You could be wearing the wrong size or style

learieonthewildmoor · 23/04/2023 17:51

Wire free. So much more comfortable but still supportive.

BusterGonad · 23/04/2023 17:51

Generally if you're a 32 band then you'd be a size 12. Does that sound right? I'm a 14 to 16 and usually wear a 34 unless it runs small.

Wedoronron · 23/04/2023 17:51

Small boobs (c cup or less) don't need wires!

Boopydoo · 23/04/2023 18:00

Go and get measured properly. A bra that fits properly doesn't dig in or feel uncomfortable.

Stumpedasatree · 23/04/2023 18:38

I'm a size 6 to 8. Underbust 28 inches and around boobs pulled tight 31 inches (with a bra on).

Measure with the bra off
A size 6- 8 shouldn't need a 32 back bra
The under bust measurement should be fairly tight
Over bust should be more loose and preferably done bent over

Stumpedasatree · 23/04/2023 18:54

Thank you, but 28DD according to calculator? I have no real boobs!

Slogi do a padded crop top style bra that is meant to feel like nothing. It does although the pair I got from tescos that were similar but in a rubbed cotton were very comfy too.

28DD = 30D = 32C with regards to cup volume (they are the same cup volume on different back sizes and are known as sister sizes)

dementedpixie · 23/04/2023 19:11

This shows the relationship between back and cup sizes and that not all DD cups are the same

Try the M&S Angel (teen/first bra) range supersoft non-wired bra. It comes in 28 back. I think it goes up to DD. If not you could try a 30D.

WhereAreWeNow · 23/04/2023 19:43

Also I find Next non wired bras good. I think they mainly start at 30 inch back though.

michaelmacrae · 23/04/2023 19:53

Stopped wearing underwire years ago. Hate them. Always used to dig into my boobs on the sides around the time of the month. You can get decent non-wired 'moulded' bras these days, they're the only kind I can wear now.

Jeannie88 · 23/04/2023 19:55

Jare bras with a passion! For work and going I wear seamless ones, for informal things nipple covers and stick on bras are so good! Not got a particularly big bust so can get away with it! X

Wear the right size - will make a world of difference. If you wear shoes half a size too big they will slip up and down, rub and be uncomfortable. Same principle applies here. If you are a 28 band measurement then don’t go over a 30, it won’t be properly comfortable/supportive. Bravissimo carry ranges in a lot of sizes.

baconisgoodforme · 23/04/2023 21:32

Definitely try your boob or bust size! They have a Facebook page too. I went from wearing a 36dd to a 32hh. I couldn't believe it but I got some bras in that size and they are the best fitting bras I've ever had.

Boopydoo · 23/04/2023 21:47

I second Bravissimo, they do online consultations for fittings. You can also get fittings in-store, they will measure you in your current bra, the experienced fitters will head off and bring you armfuls of bras to try as they are all designed and cut differently. You can then work out which ones feel and fit the best. Boux avenue will do the same, have spent hours in there waiting for my daughter to be fitted too over the years.

28DD is a small cup size. Sounds right to me given your measurements.

Alsonification · 24/04/2023 12:43

Penneys (primark) padded sports bras. Pack of 3. Really soft & comfortable. Changed my life.

Jellycats4life · 24/04/2023 12:54

I’ve been wearing stretchy crop tops and sports bras for the past 7 years. I’ll never go back to underwired. And I don’t care that they flatten my boobs 😄

StarlightLady · 24/04/2023 13:01

An underwired bra should not be uncomfortable if you are wearing the right size. Try on loads.

ImAvingOops · 24/04/2023 13:03

I'm wearing the Sloggi one that's supposed to feel like you're wearing nothing - it rolls up on me. I thought it was going to be my holy grail bra!
