Alternative to skin and me/dermatica

Have used both. Skin and me suited me better.

However, I've not seen a great improvement and I still get skin peeling even 18 months in. I find both quite unpleasant on my skin.

As I progress through peri my skin is getting duller and more spotty (I am not that wrinkly but the fat fills it out;))

I don't want anything massively complex. I use a vit c serum am and then just a hydrating moisturiser pm and the tret every 2/3 days.

I don’t think you can get Tret from anywhere other than Skin & Me and Dermatica without seeing a doc for a script…and then they don’t usually prescribe it for ageing, more for acne. And even then they usually start you on other stuff first. You see where I’m going with this.😁

This is all assuming you’re in the UK. Obviously if you’re in another country it might be different.

I can’t help with the Vitamin C but there was a thread on here recently with lots of recommendations.

I use an Altruist moisturiser with Urea but it’s because it’s one that doesn’t break me out (it’s good too though).

Hydration seems to be the biggest issue using Tret so I wonder if you could add something after your moisturiser to help - I use the Ordinary Squalane. I’d also consider using it at least every 2 days which might seem counter-intuitive but might get you beyond the peeling stage.

Thanks both. I've paused my skin and me sub for a few months and have just hit Superdrug where I picked up the revitalift retinol serum. I suspect it won't be as effective but it's the price of a month of skin and me so I'll see. Better to try this than waste money on something I don't like using.

I also got some lime green polish for my toes so hey, at least they will look glam!

I used skin and me for about a year and saw no real diff despite increasing the strength. I use a retinol from geek and gorgeous now with no irritation ( isn't tret but still strong) another option if funds allow is to look at medik8 retinol. Expensive but apparently the best out there.
