Going alone for plastic surgery in Turkey?

KATE0907 · 20/04/2023 16:12

I am wondering if there is someone who can share the experience of going alone for plastic surgery in Turkey? I am planning to go and have cosmetic surgery in December, but I have no one who can go with me. I have one close friend but she is not able to go, I have a sister but we are not that close and she refused to go. Even though I would be covering the cost I am alone. I have an amazing daughter who is 14 and she is the love of my life, but obviously, she is not able to go with me. I know it is sad not to have relatives and many friends but it is what it is. I would like to have more friends but I don't. I was wondering if there is someone out there who went through this by herself/himself.?

I’ve seen people on Instagram who gave, staff in Hospitals seem very attentive even taking you to the airport, it is recommended to book assistance at the airport and upgrade your flight if you can to have more space and be able to recline.

My friend did. She was meant to be travelling with her sister but sisters child was very ill and had to cancel the day before. She went anyway because she would have lost the money. She was very nervous and nearly didn't go through with it.

She had her breast augmentation, and it went well. She was in a hotel shortly after the surgery and was visited 3 times a day by a nurse, she had contact information for them so she could get help if needed. (I'm not sure if this is standard). She was in some pain and I had a few teary face times, I think it would have definitely been easier if she had someone to help her move in bed and use the bathroom. She's really happy with the results and they do look amazing.

I suppose the other side would be if something went wrong and you're alone and scared. Having someone on facetime isn't really the same as having someone there to help, advice and comfort you.

I would love to go with someone I would even cover the cost, but I simply don’t have anyone 😔 I don’t have luck if it comes to finding friends. My only family is my 14 years old daughter. But at the same time I want to do it so badly, for myself, not anyone else, for me to feel better

If you have the money spare, could you not hire someone? Or have the surgery in the UK even? Just as you're happy to cover someone's travel costs etc.

Someone I once worked with died after doing exactly this, in Turkey. I realise there are plenty of surgeries that go fine, but it was such a waste of a beautiful person's life. Please consider if the risks involved a

Sorry, posted too soon.

Please consider if the risks involved are worth it.

Why Turkey and not somewhere in the EU? Then at least you’re a bit closer to home.

MessyalwayMessy · 20/04/2023 21:57

I had my nose done a year ago now in Turkey on my own. Family didn’t agree with it so would never have gone, I’m single so no partner and I couldn’t ask a friend to give up 5-7 days holiday to sit in a hospital and hotel room, or go out alone.

Anything you want to know then please feel free to message me.

EricInk · 20/04/2023 22:22

OP please make sure the surgery isn't part of a package where accommodation is included. If so there is a legal loophole in Turkish law that means there is no liability or comeback if any complication should arise.

WhereAreYouuu · 20/04/2023 22:25

Not cosmetic but bariatric surgery.

I went with a group of women (strangers apart from WhatsApp!) and I was the only one to bring someone. Everyone else came alone. They were all well looked after and happy with their care.

TinaYouFatLard · 20/04/2023 22:26

I would never set this example to my 14 year old daughter.

Tinks15 · 20/04/2023 22:31

@TinaYouFatLard was that necessary? Why bother commenting?

Scoldsidol · 20/04/2023 22:33

Who’s looking after your DD and would they be able to look after her longer if there any complications that meant you couldn’t fly for a while? I hope you’ve got all the insurance in place. I don’t think I’d personally like to risk surgery in a Foreign country especially if my only family is my 14 year old DD. Is she supportive of what you’re doing?

bellac11 · 20/04/2023 22:35

Have you thought about Belgium OP, then you're only a train ride away. I think its cheaper than the UK but not as cheap as Turkey obviously

There isnt any insurance that covers this

I had a gastric sleeve in Turkey and went on my own, I think it i had have gone with someone, I would have been worried that they would have been bored. I was fine, I was well looked after, and glad I went alone in the end!

I agree with this! What happens to your daughter if something goes wrong?

MessyalwayMessy · 20/04/2023 22:55

What’s crazy is that I didn’t go to Turkey because it was cheaper, I went because the surgeon was incredible, He’s doing a conference in Miami next month.

I initially had a consultation with 4 doctors within the UK - Manchester, London and Essex. And none of them had the confidence to get me a good result.

I 100% made the right choice and I love my nose.

AgnesGray · 21/04/2023 07:00

I have a good friend who is a surgeon and he said that the issue with Turkey (I'm sure this doesn't only apply to Turkey, but that's what we were discussing as it was in the media), isn't the quality of the surgeons or surgery, it is the aftercare where things can go wrong

I'm sure the majority of people are still fine though, but it isn't a risk I'd take myself tbh. But I'm not the op and it is ultimately up to her, as none of us know her full circumstances

It's because of the standards and regulations there I think. Which aren't as stringent as the uk

KATE0907 · 21/04/2023 09:26

I am happy to pay for additional person flights and stay there but. For me its more like having someone o share time with or just have someone to support. I know they provide a nurse, coordinator and they will check on me. The one I am having in Turkey will cost me £7000 in UK they gave me minimum price of £13k. It's a lot more and I cannot afford to pay £13k

My daughter has a father and he will be looking after her while I go there. Her dad is my ex husband and we are not friends, but he is her dad and still looks after her.
