Tall women - where do you buy good quality / fashionable trousers?

Bubbinsmakesthree · 18/04/2023 16:48

I’d really like some more decent trousers suitable for my long legs - i’m 6ft tall.

In recent years I’ve mostly given up trying to buy full length trousers and have embraced the trend for ankle-grazers. But i’d really like some nice wide leg trousers, both casual and smart.

Never been impressed by Long Tall Sally - though I’ve not bought anything there for years. I’ve had some success with jeans from ASOS but not so much for trousers.

I like Toast and Cos.

Where should I be looking?

M&S do lots of different leg lengths, though they're not particularly trendy obviously!

Busygoingblah · 18/04/2023 17:05

Also came here to say M&S. Up to a 36 inch leg and although some are hideous they have a few cool things.

CMOTDibbler · 18/04/2023 17:05

What length leg are you? I have some lovely smart wide leg trousers from The Fold which are about a 34", and got some chiffony ones from Mint Velvet in their long fit which are about the same.
I haven't tried them yet, but I saw a 6' insta tall blogger in the new Karen Millen tall range and the trousers were too long for her

ModeWeasel · 18/04/2023 17:07

Also 6ft.

LTS are the only ones I’ve found that really cut for tall proportions, though am equally not over keen.

Others that have worked at least sometimes:

Next tall or long (sizing up sometimes works)

Marks and Spencer’s Long (ditto), especially in a style where the slight ankle grazer look works ok

New Look Tall for jeans

34” is usually long enough. I’ll have a look at The Fold, not heard of them.

I buy trousers from the men's section.

Not sure they really do men's wide legged though.

SoupDragon · 18/04/2023 17:26

Esprit has some wide legged trousers in 34" length. I've always found them to be decent in terms of quality.

SaltyGod · 18/04/2023 17:36

Zara trousers are often enormously long, they might be an option

Danioo · 18/04/2023 18:07

M&S have recently changed their leg lengths, so long is finally long enough now!

Next and ASOS tall are good and Mint Velvet long is a good length.

bobisbored · 18/04/2023 18:17

I had to return a pair to M & S last week as they were too long! Couldn't believe it.

waltzingparrot · 18/04/2023 20:45

Wallis do a tall range.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 18/04/2023 20:49

M and S are really long now. I'm 5ft 10 and only need regular length.

newyeardelurker · 18/04/2023 20:54

Massimo dutti are usually 34 length too

Shantotto · 18/04/2023 20:58

I’m 6ft and a lot of the time just a long leg length (I usually go for 36”) doesn’t cut it for me as I need length everywhere. I haven’t bought any smart trousers recently but as said Wallis tall light work.

Long Tall Sally recently stopped trading and were taken over by Yours and I’ve found the quality not great. Old LTS would have been great for your search for wide leg trousers!

DidyouNO · 18/04/2023 20:59

Next online are quite good, reasonably priced and a good range.

Cloudburstings · 18/04/2023 21:04

Boden do a long length in trousers.

im not as tall as you but have 33 inch inside leg measurement.

ive got some nice wide legged trousers from them. Good quality, wear and wash well .Boden trousers

hopsalong · 19/04/2023 07:48

Oh, Karen Mullen does a tall range? Thanks for that!

Length everywhere: yes, can we talk about that? I'm only 5'9'' and a 33 inch inside leg (a 32 is really fine, have also accommodated myself to ankle-grazing look). But there is no getting around the fact that lower rise trousers on me are indecent and higher rise ones give me a camel toe because they aren't actually long enough (if hitting my true waist), or or too baggy (because I have to buy them to sit around my hips).

AuntieMarys · 19/04/2023 08:03

I have wide crepe trousers from M and S...the XL were 4 inches too long, and my inside leg is 34 ins

I forgot about Zara, I’ve had some success there previously.

And definitely true that it’s more than just the inside leg measurement! I often buy a size up and the waist ends up sitting on my hips instead.

Following as I'm 5.11 and also need inspiration! Never really liked LTS either, I usually buy bottoms from the Next Tall range but it's pretty limited

LadyPoison · 19/04/2023 17:28

I’ve just bought trousers from M&S as I need a generous 34” inside leg. Amazingly they are actually plenty long enough. I admit I was surprised.

Not a fan of LTS myself either. The cut is not shaped like I am!

RubertRoo · 19/04/2023 17:30

I am 6ft tall and get almost all of mine from Next. XXL length which is 35" inside leg. XL is 33" and L is only 31"

LateMumma · 19/04/2023 18:44

Saint and Sofia do lovely wide legged trousers in 3 lengths.
Next online have loads of brands that do long length plus some of their own trousers go up to Xlong

PumpkinSpicedTea · 19/04/2023 20:48

I'm 5' 9 and my go to is Next as said above they have XL and XXL.

Surprisingly I've found a couple of tall wide legged trousers on Vinted from Boo Hoo and they are lovely.
