Smart(ish) work spring jacket??

Hi s&b!!!

I work in a relaxed office, but in a management role so I have to be semi-smart.

Now the better weather is here AT LAST I am struggling for a transitional/ springtime layer to wear over outfits to work. It's not really a blazer environment, so I would feel too formal in a blazer. After so much time in lockdown and on Mat leave I'm struggling to pin my style down.

Is there a smart-ish jacket or cardigan out there that I could invest in?

I wear...
Midi skirts & t shirts & trainers
Wide leg trousers & blouses & trainers/ loafers
Skinny jeans (sorry not sorry🤣) and boyfriend shirts & trainers

Really grateful for any ideas up to £150???

Thank you so much!!!

I know you said no blazers but there are so many jackets on sale now that are described as blazers but are very informal/relaxed so don't discount them!

I like a collarless jacket, I think it gives a nice finish to an outfit without looking too formal.

Some ideas Vila and also Vila

M&S do a couple and there are some lovely jackets and smart cardigans on Massimo Dutti that would fit the bill. Quite a few options on John Lewis if you search 'collarless' both cardigans and jackets.

Thank you @lilyvictus and @LifeInAHamsterWheel they are all lovely!!!!!

Perhaps I've been too hasty to write off blazers - the ones Hamster has suggested are really cool looking!!

I’ve got M&S’s quilted jersey bomber jacket in navy (sold out now, but still avail in white). It’s super versatile and not too smart. I pair it with wide leg jeans and trousers. Would work with dresses and skirts too

I would go for a slouchy/oversized blazer, rather than a suit jacket blazer.

They look good with jeans and trainers.

Another thought would be a biker Rick chick vibe

What about a shacket in a chino fabric?
Like a modern utility jacket?

This comes in pink and navy too on him but by monki

I like this - although it's a blazer, it has no buttons and ruched "pushed up" sleeves, so doesn't look like a normal structured kind of blazer -

I have that blazer that @CorsicaDreaming has linked. It's lovely with jeans & trousers but I can't seem to make it work with dresses or skirts. I'm a short arse though so some things just look odd on me!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 18/04/2023 22:14

It's also quite heavy and I'm not sure I'll get that much wear out of it through the summer. Great for Autumn & Spring though

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 19/04/2023 09:19

That's lovely @Fleur405

You are all amazing!!! So many ideas and so much inspiration thank you so much. I think I have been swayed about blazers I simply had no idea there were casual ones on the market! And that whistles jacket with no collar is beautiful. Thanks so much everyone x

How about a Ba&sh Gaspard cardigan?
For some reason I can't link to it.
