Trouser suggestions for a citybreak

I am going abroad for a long weekend next month. The weather is likely to be good around 20 degrees, some days more. It could be 25/26. Jeans are my go to but it’s probably going to be too warm for them. I don’t own a dress. I just can’t get them to look good on me so I am looking for trouser recommendations for warmer weather. I always like the look of linen but by lunchtime you look like you’ve slept in your outfit. Open to good linen if anyone can suggest anything. I am struggling with trousers as I don’t want to look like I’m going to work. I am a size 12. 5’6 and carry my weight in my middle. Can you help?

If you wear jeans could you not wear a denim skirt? Very fashionable this year. Will be cooler (in temperature terms) than your jeans but probably smarter than sagging linen trousers! I’d opt for shorter lengths or lighter fabric if it’s going to be hot. (But denim is definitely too heavy for truly sweltering days.)

Some options:

APC

Thank you. That's a good suggestion.

I wear chinos in the summer - usually from M&S - and roll them up at the ankle generally

I have a pair of linen trousers that I always take on holiday. The creases annoyed me at first but they're really comfortable 😅 I wonder if a patterned pair might not show the creases as much? https://www.marksandspencer.com/pure-linen-printed-belted-balloon-trousers/p/clp60592371?color=BLACKMIX&prevPage=srp#intid=plpnav_pid_pg1pip48g2r10c2

I bought some lovely wide leg linen trousers from next....but in all honesty I've not worn them yet so not sure how they crumple! They have a little side elasticated bit so fit well.

I love Massimo Dutti for clothes like light linen cropped trousers. Where are you going? If Spain or Italy then shop there, they will have much more choice for the climate.

I don't mind the creases in linen trousers but I hate the sagging and I've come to the conclusion that you either have to throw time (hunting for second hand) or money at it. I look for mainly for second hand Margaret Howell, along with second hand or sales Toast. I also found some Me & Em and Whistles linen and cotton mix trews last summer that were pretty decent.

Thank you all for responding and giving me some ideas. I’ll take a proper look tonight after work. Thanks again.

Next have some really great linen trousers. I got them in all 4 colours for work.

Hush have great lightweight trousers for summer that pack well .

VenusClapTrap · 24/04/2023 09:12

I’ve got these but in khaki (I think I got them from ASOS but they don’t have them any more). I bought them for exactly your scenario. They hang really well, are comfortable and don’t crease.

Whenever I wear them, I always get “I do like your trousers, I’ve been hunting for something like that for a long time” from random strangers. Which I find amusing because they’re really not the most exciting or striking item of clothing, but obviously something that ticks an essential box!

I love lightweight culottes in summer. If you’re used to jeans then how about some in Tencel or Chambray? Something like this:

I have some very similar to these and virtually lived in them last summer. Just so easy to wear and great in the heat.
