Silver tarnish

I've got some silver jewellery that tarnishes easily.
Every time I want to wear a piece, I need to either dip it in tarnish remover or use the special cloth, and use a rubber around the gemstones.
I've got some silver ornaments that don't tarnish, but no idea how they keep their polish.

Any ideas how to prevent tarnishing? I'd still have to use a rubber near the stones, but that's easy.
