A change in diet/lifestyle? Or a product?

Rapidly approaching 40 and am trying to take a bit more care over my skin. I always wear spf but other than that am a bit overwhelmed
by the range of options!

Dermatica has helped me. Adapelene, Benzol Peroxide and Niacinamide

Half a decade of Veganism, 3l of water a day and no booze!

Same here re. no booze. You never see a young looking frequent drinker, or however the saying goes.

Exercise makes such a big difference

HappiDaze · 15/04/2023 22:33

Cutting out / down on alcohol makes a huge difference

I drank more over the Easter weekend than I have for a while and my skin dried out, went blotchy, got spots and I had huge dark circles under my eyes.

Back to normal a week later thank god after no alcohol

HappiDaze · 15/04/2023 22:38

Oh and day to day retinol, Vit c, HA, glycolic acid and lots of water and a reasonably varied and healthy diet

AchillesHeelys · 15/04/2023 22:38

Peel facials. I didn’t actually realise at the time but looking back at photos of when I had them regularly in the months leading up to my wedding, I can see how my skin looked so much brighter and clearer that at any other time.

Twiggywinkle13 · 15/04/2023 22:43

Like others I came to say tretinoin. In terms of OTC products, I’d say the one product that has alone made a huge difference to my skin it would be Sunday Riley Good Genes.

Absolutely using the sauna twice a week, with cold showers between returning to sauna. Stand under cold shower until goosebumps go and you feel acclimatised to the temperature. Skin completely dry each time you go in sauna. It’s worked far better than any product or method, friends and family keep commenting on how much younger I look and how clear my skin seems. I think it’s also really helped my immune system, as I haven’t suffered from the usual bugs and colds this winter.

Modang · 15/04/2023 22:59

For me, glycolic acid

Another one here in favour of the sauna then cold showers- also the steam room!

Living in a non sunny place

Cas112 · 16/04/2023 01:05

Eating lots of fruit and veg, no chocolate and sugary things and cleaning my face with a flannel and warm water

Anonposter123 · 16/04/2023 03:02

A good skincare routine!

Find somewhere that can scan your face (sorry I forget what it's actually called)!
But they scan it and look a various different things relating to your skin condition.

I did this and then followed a good skin care routine and can massively see the difference. Pigmentation, sun damage and scarring are now fading. Less breakouts, even skin tone, smaller pores, firmer healthier looking skin.

Just ordered corsyx bha

For goodness sakes :)

superplumb · 16/04/2023 19:29

I've tried trwt skin and me for a year and it did nothing for me. I've tried more expensive creams etc and have just ordered the new boots stuff
However when my skin looked its best was when I ordered from the ordinary. They gave me a programme and u got the products. From memory it was buffet, hylaronic acid, retinol Azelaic acid. My skin looked great under this. If the boots stuff doesn't work then I'll give the ordinary another go

Spanielsarepainless · 16/04/2023 19:32

A pint of tepid water every morning, while I was for the kettle to boil for tea. Skin much clearer and brighter.

dogrilla · 16/04/2023 20:43

Botox, water and sleep

BenCoopersSupportWren · 16/04/2023 20:46

Giving up caffeine and switching to water.

GlassBunion · 16/04/2023 20:57

Dim supplements cleared my 30 years of acne

StraightHairDonCare · 16/04/2023 21:10

Dim causes horrendous gas though

Really? I've been taking 300mg daily for almost five years and it hasn't once had that effect.

I do not take Dim for my skin, I didn't even know it had any effect on one's skin. Quitting sugar and starting tret has probably been the two things that have most benefited my skin.

wineandsunshine · 16/04/2023 21:31

So after a quick google, I can see that tretinoin is only on prescription from GP or dermatologist.

Any other way to purchase it?!

Try Skin+Me or Dermatica.

wineandsunshine · 16/04/2023 21:35

Thank you very much!
