Vinted issue

Sold a bag on Vinted recently and the buyer has messaged to say it's damaged. Has sent photos. I am certain it wasn't damaged when I posted it and I had only used it once prior to that. However I don't see how it could been damaged in transit due to where the damage is.

I have suggested she returns it to me, but she says she's going away tomorrow and bought it especially for the trip, and that she'll look into it when she returns.

I have a message telling me the money will be deposited in my account on Friday unless the seller reports an issue.

Will I get a notification that she has officially raised an issue to Vinted, or has she done that already by messaging me?

She has to raise the issue with Vinted. It will be clear to you when she’s done this as it will say on your account

TheGingerTucci · 12/04/2023 22:15

I reckon the money will drop before then. She's pulling a fast one methinks

myvinted · 12/04/2023 22:22

Okay, thanks for the replies. I'll keep an eye on my account then.

Most things show up in Vinted messages, so they may or may not have formally raised the issue

If she has only used messaging and it’s just a conversation then the two day process will kick in and the payment released to you

If she has clicked “I have an issue” then it should show either system/support messages and related options on how to resolve, or at least clear ‘form’ like details

If the tracking is fully active then Vinted will trigger the two day period and then pay you even if she doesn’t close it off as received OK
If the tracking isn’t (eg not sent by a standard Vinted courier choice) then the system may take longer to notice it’s been delivered

If you’re still unsure on whether she has just messaged or has initiated a process then your account balance should have an indicator in the payment status - ‘pending balance’ is the normal status you would expect between delivery plus two days

I had an issue once where the buyer claimed for non receipt as it was left on their doorstep and I had messages in the standard messaging window but from the Vinted system

(They asked for photos and/or a description for chasing up with the courier, and was treated as lost/stolen with payment released to me but also refunded to the buyer with Vinted claiming against the courier. Note that I take photos of most packages but hadn’t with this one, so I could only describe it. I try to keep a habit of photographing at the drop off point so that I have a picture of the package complete with geotagging at the post office or drop off)

Hmm, did she buy your newish bag as a replacement for her damaged bag? So the photograph is of her old bag?

myvinted · 13/04/2023 11:37

@Branster I never thought of that! Surely not! Although I did find it odd that the bag was delivered four days ago, yet she only picked it up the day before a trip which she she says had specifically bought it for.

Anyway, it's not that I think she's scamming me, just that I didn't really know what happens now.

Thanks @tommika for that info. Definitely seeing no sign of any other messages do indicate an issue raised to Vinted. Will see what happens tomorrow, I guess.

You’ll get the money automatically within 2 days after delivery - it’s up to her to report an issue directly to Vinted.

If she reports it’s damaged and wants to return then it’s usually on the buyer to pay the return fee.

Well, the money has been paid into my account, so not sure what that was all about. Ill need to make sure to take more detailed photos from now on.

Brilliant! Make sure you withdraw the funds.
Very odd buyer.
