How does BIAB work?

My nails are knackered. Every time I have a gel polish manicure, which is only about 3 times a year, my nails take about 2 months to recover.
I don't want acrylics, I find them too thick and fake looking.
Is BIAB what I need?
How does it work, does it need to be applied and removed by a professional? Do your natural nails suffer?
Can you put coloured polish on top? And as your nails grow do you need infills?

Some people will tell you it works, but in my opinion it’s no different from any other gel treatments in that you’ll probably find your nails need to recover too. It wrecked mine bit obviously everyone is different. I keep recommending watching a lady on YouTube who has lots of free info and she says that gel polish (in any form) is best on healthy nails, not thin or damaged ones as it can cause irritation and reactions.

She recommends lots of oil, creams and warm oil soaks to help nails recover from pretty much everything and then using the gel to make them look nice rather than strengthen them etc.

She’s called The Salon Life if you want to look.

Great whilst it's on (makes my nails brilliantly strong and long) but ruins my nails having it taken off just like gel does.

Unfortunately BIAB made my nails really thin and brittle after having them done regularly for about 6 months. Took about as long for them to recover fully.

Ok sounds like it's not a miracle cure then.
Thanks for the info, I will look up that YouTube channel.
