How long before Botox kicks in?

I had my first ride on the Botox bus last Thursday. CQC registered practitioner, very happy with experience. Agreed to go easy to avoid the frozen look and have set a review of results for a few weeks’ time in case I want a top-up.

So counts on fingers it’s been four days and I still feel fully mobile right across my forehead… has anyone else had this at this stage and then it kicked in? Or do I just need more (don’t want to become a Botox-zilla) 😁

Thanks for letting me have your experiences so I can sense-check.

I had the same worries as you and obsessively checked in the mirror lol. It took just under a week (6 days iirc) for mine to show. They did say when I was having it done that it could take a week but I noticed straight away the day it had kicked in

Oh my goodness… how rare is it to get exactly the response you were secretly hoping for, @Gobrookeyourself? Thank you! I’ll hold off getting twitchy for a while longer😆

Can i jump
On and ask if you got any bruises? I bruise really easily and want Botox but don't want anyone to know 😂

MagicMatilda · 10/04/2023 16:00

10 days and I’m like ok it’s worked! I’ve never had any bruises with mine.

BedBathAndBeyonce · 10/04/2023 16:03

I haven’t told anyone either @shakeitoffsis… Well… except my best friend, but we can tell each other anything so she doesn’t count 😉

No bruising at all. Teeny bit visible at the injection sites for a few hours but only really because she naturally removed my foundation to apply! I visited family a few hours after and they were none the wiser.

Thanks everyone :)

You can go back for more. I have my eye area done and it never took even with two goes. Forehead fine though

AJ2009 · 10/04/2023 16:30

Did the practitioner not tell you how long it can take for the Botox to work?

Mine said two weeks, then go for top up.

After two weeks I still had little movement and frown lines were less noticeable but I wanted them gone and yeh top up helped with that.

I just looked fresher faced and my one eyebrow that always sit higher actually was level with the other which was nice to see

See how you feel in another week and consider weather to have the top up or not

BedBathAndBeyonce · 10/04/2023 16:38

The practitioner did say by review in a few weeks it would have done whatever it is going to, yes. Thing is — first time doing it, so I did what I often do when not totally sure of something and turned to the collective wisdom of Mumsnet!

How much does it cost and how often do you need it re-doing?

BedBathAndBeyonce · 10/04/2023 16:40

Mine cost £200 BUT if I want more units at review that will be an extra £40-£50. I am aware some places offer top-up for free but this was all discussed upfront and agreed prior.

@BedBathAndBeyonce how is your Botox doing now?

I got mine done on Wednesday forehead and 11s and I already can see a difference! I did bruise in 2 places unfortunately but I bruise like a peach. Had to tell my husband our daughter whacked me with a toy 🤣

RudolfsLeftToe · 21/04/2023 10:22

I had it done last Saturday and I my forehead looks exactly how I wanted and feels numb but my 11s are still fully mobile so I can still frown but I can no longer look surprised!

BedBathAndBeyonce · 21/04/2023 11:36

@shakeitoffsis Ahhhh I’m so sorry to hear it but sounds like you covered it Wink

Mine kicked in fully by day 7, I think. I’ve still got a little movement which was kind of what I wanted — she’s done a fabulous job and I have a smoooooth forehead now!
