Vinted advice for a moron

Hi, please could I get some advice on buying from Vinted? I don’t know if I’m being an idiot or what. I just bought something and thought I’d chosen pick up from parcel shop option which I thought was free. The seller then contacted me and asked for my address - I thought OK, maybe I mistakenly asked for it to be delivered to me. Seller then asked me to get the shipping label, but I can’t see it and why would I have to get it when I’m not sending it? And is asking me to pay for postage but I can’t see how? Can someone enlighten me? Ta

Vinted should send the label to the seller once you've clicked to buy. You shouldn't have to give your address or buy postage yourself. Has the seller explained why that process hasn't happened automatically?

jb23newmum · 10/04/2023 14:41

I agree - it’s usually automatic when the buyer pays and the seller gets notification to download the label which has the address on it or the option is a digital label which then gives the seller a qr code

Is this your first time buying or have you only just opened your account? Maybe you haven't filled out all your details out in settings? I'm newish to Vinted and have both bought and sold items, but the label has always been automatically generated for me and I just print it out and I'm guessing the same happens to the seller when I've bought items from them. Go into your settings and check all your details are correct and if so, contact their support page for assistance

If the listing said pick up I'd double check their profile and other items - there are obviously fake accounts that pop up and list with stolen photos. Look for a nonsense name and listing that don't 'match' (different backgrounds etc).

If not I'd assume they're perhaps new and don't realise there's a label for them to use.

Hmm, very strange. User only has one star as well… I’ve asked them to print the label themself, hope I’m not being scammed…

I've never been contacted directly by a seller or had to print a label myself. I do pay for postage as iirc postage is only free for the first few purchases.
I only ever buy from people with a good star rating and a decent number of reviews, though.

Houseplantmad · 10/04/2023 15:21

Doesn’t sound right - when you made the purchase did it show price + buyer protection cost + delivery cost? It should have. In any case, send a message to Vinted for advice. They’re usually pretty quick to respond.

I'm a frequent buyer on Vinted too and I agree with the above post
Perhaps she hasn't listed deliver to home option?
Either way, the shipping label is sent to her

Theimpossiblegirl · 10/04/2023 15:31

The pick up from parcel shop option isn't usually free. Most vinted sales are delivered by evri and the cost is added when you buy an item.

CCSS15 · 10/04/2023 15:43

Vinted sometimes run a promotion that on your first sale your buyer gets free pick up - on my first purchase it was free so assumed it was this. I have subsequently bought loads of stuff and always had to pay and never had to provide info.
Your money should be safe as vinted don't release it straight away
