At home IPL

Happy Easter everyone!

Looking for recommendations for IPL devices, have been leaning toward the Philips Lumea but overwhelmed by the choices for even this brand!

Asking for real world experiences of time to see results, ease of use, longevity of results, value for money.

Thanks all 🙂

Studio are selling one for £50 and it's brilliant! I saw results after one use

Just make sure you shave before you use it. If you pluck/wax/thread/epilate before using IPL it won’t work as it needs the root of the hair to be sat in the follicle (which is what happens when you shave, obviously!) as it uses the pigment within the remaining root to destroy the follicle.

Had the Philips Lumea advanced for 3 years. Rarely use it and the reduction in hair loss is still remarkable. Check your skin tone is compatible though. I'm a big fan

I have the Philips! It's bloody amazing. Such a good device and works really well (I've got very dark hair and am mega pale).

@cattygorically @dietcokelime
Exciting news! Which Lumea do you have?

@TickTockBaby

Mine is the one with the handle and pink attachments - got it from John Lewis, about £400 ish?

I bought a Philips lumea in the January sales in 2018, still going strong. I haven't used it religiously since I bought it, I go through phases of using it and then forgetting about it. It's really worked on my lower legs though, I barely get any hair there now. I started reusing it on my bikini line and armpits last month and it's worked well.

I use it on the 5 setting, and sometimes have to turn it off and let it cool down inbetween using it as it feels too hot. Feels a bit like an elastic band sometimes, but only lasts a second. Backs of legs and armpits are most sensitive for me.

If you buy one, remember to charge it every month or so, even if you don't use it. Apparently if you don't then the battery dries out or something (though I definitely haven't don't this and mine is fine).

Don't know what model I bought, but if it died I would buy the cheapest model to replace it. Not sure there's much difference between them.
