Floaty, breathable dresses for summer.

I am thinking ahead to the warmer months. I would like some comfy, breathable dresses for the summer.

I would quite like something that offers a good deal of protection from the sun, as I'm noticing a lot of moles on my shoulders and arms and I would like to protect them.

I am petite too, so if there's too much material I look silly.

Has anyone seen anything that would suit?

Good lord, those tana lawn dresses are hideous! Lawn is a lovely fabric but those styles are awful, ridiculous collars and exaggerated puff sleeves, even the models look terrible in them. It's like the brief was to design the most unflattering dresses possible! I can't imagine what body shape they would work on.

I think they're gorgeous. I have this one and the same style in a yellow flowered print.

Sorry,I think I came across a bit rude. But how do you make it look nice? Is it that length and fit on you? I can see the fabric could look pretty but the shape? Do you belt it or something? Accessorise it differently? What do you like about it? Am genuinely trying to understand here, I know everybody is different, but I think there's something I'm not getting here!

I'm looking for something similar OP. I'd just like a couple of simple shirt dresses a little above the knee like this without balloon sleeves or tiered frilly skirts.

Watching with interest. I’m so fed up with bloody puffed sleeves! I’m inverted triangle shape and they look ridiculous on me!

It's about mid calf on me. As for styling, well I put it on. I wear with ballet flats in summer. As it's dark coloured I can put a thin long sleeved thermal vest under it in the winter and wear with opaque tights, lace up boots and a baggy cardigan. A belt would ruin the flow of the dress.

This is my most recent "awful, ridiculous dress with exaggerated sleeves"

And another from last year

Oh and I'm not in the least bit offended. I'm confident enough about my clothes choices that it's you who's got it wrong, not me !

Mountain Warehouse have been mentioned on MN before, not floaty type dresses, basic summer wear

I really like the black version of that dress. I love dresses that button up the back. I'm too messy to wear a white dress.

Yes, I do like this sort of thing. Excessively puffy sleeves and frills etc look ridiculous on me because I'm so short. I need dresses to be fairly simple and maybe have a little bit of gentle tailoring just to bring in the waist or I look like a little stump.

They're awful, Grayson Perry would love them though!

Most unhelpful post as I have nothing if use to add 🙄😂
