Is it a bad idea to go to a college for hair colour?

I want my dark roots bleached and coloured, and my super light (bleached) lengths coloured for an all over honey blonde as well as a cut with some reshaping. I was quoted £280 for colour correction and cut by a professional salon.

My hair is thick and in decent condition, but I have a lot of breakage on the ends and uneven length due to this. The stylist at the other salon also commented I have a lot of red tones in my natural hair.

I can afford it, but am tempted to go to a college for the lower prices. I will obviously go for a consultation, but would like some opinions on whether it’s a good idea or not. If anyone’s done this (particularly for colour correction), what were your experiences? And it would be great if anyone could recommend somewhere in London, preferably southeast. I was looking at salon 95 in woolwich. Their website mentions students are under professional supervision but “results my vary” hence prices.

I can cope with a slightly iffy cut but am just worried about colour damage.

Thank you!

If you make sure you get second/third years, they’ll be taking their final assessments this time of year so should do a decent job.

If you’re in London, you can go to the Vidal Sassoon school Hairdressers tend to be expert - they go for top up education. My experience ages ago was it was top notch - and they supervise so nothing can go wrong - almost safer than most hairdressers

You have to work really quickly with bleach, and the students might not be up to it. I'd not chance it, especially as you can afford to get it done properly by a professional.

I had a look at some old threads and people were saying they never had an issue with bleach/colour. But I suppose it’s whether I want to take the risk 😅
