Silicon free conditioner

Can anyone recommend a really good silicon free conditioner that works well on frizzy hair? Ideally looking for something that smells lovely and fresh, gives good shine and tames frizz without the demon silicon.

I've tried many but come back to Sainsbury's apple conditioner regularly. I have fine hair and this provided good moisture without weighing it down x

The Garnier Ultimate Blends range is all silicone free. I like the papaya and amla mask. It smells nice but doesn’t linger much really, tbh. I find that it’s styling products that make the biggest difference to hair texture, though. Mine has been lovely and soft since I started using Elnett heat protection spray and L’Oreal extraordinary oil on it.

If your hair is frizzy why on earth would you not want silicon? Whack it in and have frizz free hair

Faith in nature conditioners are lovely

Because long term silicon isn't good for your hair, it coats the hair shaft and doesn't allow moisture to penetrant, leading to dry hair and frizz.

I like Aldi volume conditioner, in the blue bottle, its really cheap too!

Sukin Hydrating conditioner is my go to. Free from silicone and all other nasties. It smells great too!

Because it works in the short term but makes it so much worse long term plus also makes it impossible to strip colour out.

thanks so much for all of the suggestions, everyone.

For silicon free shampoo look at salad brands. Kerestase is fantastic as it l'anza. You'll pay more bit a tiny bit goes a long way and you'll notice a huge difference

I use Only Curls on my frizzy hair. The full set with shampoo, conditioner, curl creme and gel. It's expensive but it's a game changer.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 06/04/2023 20:43

I use the Hask argan oil conditioner and deep conditioner. My hair loves the stuff, and no silicones.

If you have curly, wavy or coarse hair have a look at tye Cantu range in Boots. Smells amazing, of mango and coconut.

Heh sorry. I use a cheap one from boots, I'll check I think it's silicone free

Curly girl approved. I love the smell

IsaiditwasLighthearted · 06/04/2023 20:55

Surely since it's Mumsnet it would be massive salad brands Grin

I've got curly hair and do the CGM with Tropic Hair Feast. Not much scent but an amazing leave in deep conditioner that has turned my frizz into proper curls. I also use Aveda stuff too sometimes it's nice.

Maple2023 · 06/04/2023 21:02

I also like the Aldi volume one

Herbal Essences avocado. Cheap as chips and silicon/sulphate free. DD uses it for curly girl method and says it's a million times better than all the £££ salon ones she's tried. Garnier Hair Food papaya is also good.

princessbear80 · 07/04/2023 07:25

I like all of the Alberto Balsam ones, but the apple scent is my favourite. I use the shampoo too. I never bother with expensive shampoo and conditioner now, my hair is lovely and soft.
