What trainers for a 12 year old DD?

DD has asked for plain white trainers for her birthday - was going to go for Nike air force ones as they seemed to be on
Lots of teens feet recently.
Does that still sound along the right lines ?
She hasn't been more specific but did mention Vans briefly .

Does anyone have recent purchases for similar age group to share ?

I think you need to make sure you get her what she wants.

My 17 will no longer wear airforce 1s but loves her platform converse I think they're sill She needs to be more specific.

Unless you have an unlimited budget and your DD knows that, I think you need to give her a budget and ask her to send you links for the ones she likes

Shinyandnew2022 · 03/04/2023 14:45

Thanks for replies all I love the high tops but not sure if they are as versatile for summer as normal style.

I probably should have said she is only at very early stages of fashion conscious I think she will be pretty happy with anything white so am probably going to keep them quite low budget for now.

From my own experience (dd is almost 14 now) I would get her a voucher for JD or similar and take her to pick them. I have in the past paid a small fortune for AF1s that weren't quite right... they rarely got worn. My dd would never wear vans or converse, whereas I think they'd look great! 🤷🏻‍♀️

NameChange647 · 03/04/2023 14:54

My 11 year old and all her friends wear white airforce.

PinkSyCo · 03/04/2023 14:57

Once kids get to your DD’s age it’s much safer to let them chose the exact pair they want within your budget.

kirkandpetal · 03/04/2023 14:59

My eldest DD 13 has AF1s and loves them. And so she bloody well should at that price.

My youngest DD 10 also wanted similar and has an almost identical pair from Nike outlet that look like AF1s but aren't. They are also pure white and the same sort of shape but about a 1/4 of the price.

If you're daughter isn't hung up on them being actual AF1s, maybe worth a trip to Nike outlet if you have one nearby or looking at their website for dupes!

White airforce for my 13 year old. Completely white, no other colour on them whatsoever is acceptable apparently.

Shinyandnew2022 · 03/04/2023 18:35

I have order AF1s thanks all.
I think she will be super happy but if not they can be returned !

@Shinyandnew2022 I have a very fashion conscious young adult son who works with people this age- would you like me to ask him?

CurlewKate · 03/04/2023 18:41

Ah, too late! Good luck!

CheeseDreamsTonight · 03/04/2023 18:44

White air force are absolutely right as far as my dd who is 12 is concerned. They all have them and love them.

HappiDaze · 03/04/2023 18:52

I think they'll still be wearing their white AF1 this summer along with their Jordan's and whatever else becomes the latest trend.
