One size fits all ‘ magic’ clothes

Yankeedoodlemandy · 03/04/2023 08:27

I’m a short stumpy 14-16. I have found a website with some clothes I like . They are mainly one size stating they fit 8-20 . This just seems to unlikely. The model is 5 foot 5 size 12 and looks great.
many experience of these type of clothes?

As with all clothing it doesn’t look as good as the model. I guess you’ve got to be mindful of your body shape and how the item might look on you? For example I’ve bought flowy dresses that fit all but they’re often too short on me. Etc

What's the website? People may have experience of it here.

This is the site

https://thestyleattic.co.uk/

i am currently a frump living in leggings and was just looking for a few other summer options . Also it appeals that if I hopefully lose weight I wouldn’t have to buy new .

I'm a size 16-18 and their 'magic pants' (trousers) fit me nicely

Yankeedoodlemandy · 03/04/2023 09:29

Thanks that’s great will order some. Fingers crossed they are ok for my very short legs !

I'm intrigued by these, the trousers especially.

How on earth can the same pair of trousers fit a size 8 and 16?

As an aside, that website reminds me that I really really despise that 'selfie in the mirror' style of photography.

Yankeedoodlemandy · 03/04/2023 10:35

Agree about the photography ! And also intrigued . But very tempted given my size and struggles to get clothes to fit.

I'm interested in these. How do they look in real life? Cheap and shiny? Or like yoga pants?

Frosty1000 · 03/04/2023 10:58

Love love love magic trousers!! Not from the site mentioned as these are pricey but they're in two sizes - 8-16 and 16-20. So comfy, so stretchy and really good to wear.

I get mine from eBay - loads in there. Totally recommend.

Yorkshirelass04 · 03/04/2023 11:00

I'm always sceptical. Seems like a way to flog shapeless mass produced clothes.

Also, just looked at that site and I don't like the way they say 'join the waitlist' for stuff that is out of stock. Not the only site who does this!

Badger1970 · 03/04/2023 11:01

I'm on the bigger side of these magic one size fits all, and find most of the time it looks bloody awful. Far too shapeless in the body, but never long enough to cover my tummy. I did a huge order from one hundred stars but the tops were just awful on me.

rileynexttime · 03/04/2023 11:05

I think this type looks good if you're on the taller as well as bigger size .
I'm 5'2" and find the loose stuff just swamps me and looks awul.
Trousers might be a different thing ,I think the magic trousers are good to rool up a little .

Hermanfromguesswho · 03/04/2023 11:15

I absolutely love the magic trousers from Asda. They come in 2 sizes I think. 8-14 and 16-22 ish
im a size 10 and the smaller ones are the most comfortable trousers ever. I have every colour!

I have a pair in 'stone' which are not at all shiny, but I wouldn't say they are like yoga pants - although the fabric is stretchy its not jersey, it looks more like lightweight chino type material

AreNotHere · 03/04/2023 17:10

@Hermanfromguesswho which are the Asda ones?

Yankeedoodlemandy · 03/04/2023 18:11

The two size ones aren’t great as I’m a 14-16 so in between which is why I was tempted by the ones that say they fit all sizes.

Just a little recommendation for The Style Attic - it's a small, independent boutique near me. The owner and staff are wonderful (the owner has a real, heartwarming story as to how and why she set the business up - I recall she was a clothes buyer for a big company until they were awful to her when her young daughter became seriously ill)

I bought magic pants from the actual shop and can confirm they will probably fit most people - they're very forgiving!

The shop also does specialise in carefully chosen pieces within the 'one size fits all' category. The lady has a really good eye.

And I believe they probably do most of their trade from the shop, hence the reason some stuff goes quickly out of stock online.

So, not an ad, I promise. Just a solid recommendation from one of their customers!

Carpediem15 · 03/04/2023 19:26

Those magic trousers are awful. I am size 12 and bought size 1 and they are baggy and shapeless round my hips and thighs and look awful. Worn once and went to charity shop.

Yankeedoodlemandy · 03/04/2023 20:47

Ok well I’ve ordered 3 pairs and trousers and 2 tops. Will update when they arrive!

What is the point of that? Does it save on getting a photographer?

It puts me off buying anything.
