Love this Ghost dress but it's over budget

Looking for a dress to wear to a wedding.
I love this Ghost dress but it's about £100 over budget.

Has anyone seen anything similar, or can suggest what shops to look in?

So many gorgeous dresses suggested on this thread.
I better start saving hard.

Nope. I don't want to change my body shape to fit into clothes, I just need to get clothes that fit me well.
I will wear a bra with the dress I wear, I just threw them on yesterday after a shower to take some pics.

Shrugs shoulders, suit yourself! Maybe learn to alter your clother yourself then.

You seem a bit upset. I don't want to wear a push up or padded bra.

I am sure there are plenty of dresses out there which fit me perfectly. I didn't find one in the few hours I went shopping. I neither have the time or the inclination to continue shopping. I have a perfectly nice dress that I can wear.

People have been very kind in helping me find something and I've got some good idea of places to look when I next need a fancy outfit.

The green one in other contenders post you put up looks brilliant in your photo there. I'd go with that.

Yes, that's the winner I think. It's too expensive really.

That's the green dress pic you posted next to the pink dress where it says "other new contenders". The pink one is ok but the green one looks just lovely and a great colour and looks like it fits really nicely from the photo too.

Agree 👌

If you love a dress that is out of budget or out of stock in the future, Google image search it using the picture from the website. You will always find really good alternatives that way. I do it all the time.

Stop spoon feeding her - she said up thread she had a dress and needed out fits for her two sons.

It's OK - people are posting useful links and info I (and others) might use in future.
I presume people are only posting because they want to. I know I sometimes like a challenge of looking around when someone posts on Style and Beauty.

I've got a floor length emerald green version of the Ghost dress and it's great. Washes well too. I would say if you have a smaller bust (and are slimmer in the middle than me) it would probably look better than it does on my E cups as it does hang off my bust/midriff a bit. They usually have a few models showing it.
Glad you seem to have some alternatives now though.

Nearly £200 for a bland ordinary dress?! No wonder JL are struggling?!

Catspyjamas17 · 25/04/2023 10:38

£159 is not nearly £200. Not an unusual amount for good quality cut and fabric and a very well made and cut dress. I got mine direct from Ghost. Bland/ordinary is in the eye of the beholder I guess, I'd call it a classic 1930s cut and stylish, but I didn't particularly want to look too exciting and out of the ordinary as a happily married woman at a dinner with predominantly male guests.

It is definitely better made and with good quality fabric than something I might have got from say Zara or Mango. It felt lovely on.

@Catspyjamas17

PMSL it's £179 NOT £159. Ooops, 😆 Take a better look next time before you post. Then you won't embarrass yourself. And £179 IS nearly £200, and it IS a lot! (For a bloody bland dress!)

It was 25% off when I bought it - so £135. The offer isn't there any more though.
I fell in love with the dress when I saw the amazing soprano Nardus Williams at a concert.
I think she looks anything but bland.

Unless I'm losing my sight or John Lewis are showing you a special price just for you, in the link posted upthread by @AquamarineNoseStud the dress is £159.

And as for the other comment why would someone say WTAF to what I said? I wore it for a work dinner with 300 guests, about 280 of them are men. I don't really want to draw more attention to myself than necessary as women stand out like a sore thumb there as it is. Perhaps you prefer the Real Housewives of Cheshire look but it's not me.

Catspyjamas17 · 25/04/2023 14:34

It's gorgeous on her @GhostRunner70

Banoffeepie21 · 26/04/2023 02:51

@Catspyjamas17 ignore that rude poster. I am sure you looked amazing. Your photo doesn’t do it justice.
I have two Ghost maxi dresses, one of which I wore for my wedding day, the other a black tie do. Beautiful fabric, comfortable to wear and stunning on.
