Summer dresses - tummy

I am 37, 5ft 1, size 12 approx. Problem area: tummy. (Bit too much weight on, plus a c section tummy).

Anyone know of any suitable dress styles that will skim/hide/"flatter" the shape I have described??? I want to wear dresses but find myself wearing shorts all the time as they hold the tum in a bit 🫣 I'd like short sleeves or straps, middle or short length (often short dresses are below the knee/shin length on me anyway!) Ideally not high end price!

You guys saved me for a wedding guest outfit last year!

I'm the same OP and struggling with a massive style rut. So no advice from me! It might be worth getting the post moved to Style and Beauty as you will probably get more replies.

Skater/flare dresses are your best bet. I'm bottom heavy and it skims past the tummy/bum.

Thanks!! How do I move to style and beauty? Happy to do that!

You can report the post and ask for it to be moved - I've reported it and asked just now.

Following as I've got the issues. As a PP said, I've found skater dresses are a good bet. Empire line dresses hide the tummy but I feel like they make me look bigger all over.

I go for skater dresses, or tiered dresses.

I've also found that the Snag Tights chub rub shorts hold me in a little, too, so I always wear those under a dress. Protects my modesty, protects my chubby thighs, and helps with the tum.

I've found tiered dresses the most flattering. I wear leggings under in this weather

I have a similar body shape and height. I usually wear long cotton Indian skirts with a top/tshirt instead of dresses in summer. It’s quite easy to hem a long skirt.

Take a look at the Fatface Simone dress. Skater style and skins the tummy.

What is your body shape and are you busty?
Because the advice is different depending on how booby you are.
Generally, V necks or open neckline draws the eyes up, avoid long sleeves which is easy in summer! you also want dresses that skim in an A line shape or fabric with swishy movement around the stomach. You can use a narrow belt to cinch it in at a high waist point experiment with positioning the belt. This is why I don't like dresses that have a built in belt that can't be moved up or down.

Make sure the dress doesn't have the lightest colours around the midsection. If it's multi colour have the colour darkest around stomach. Patterned dresses hide bulges and lumps better than one solid colour. Earrings and necklaces also draw the eyes away from the stomach.

Exact same body shape as you. I have this in last years colours and this one & it’s perfect.

Hi, do you have a direct link for the actual dress? This one just takes me to the app home page.
Thanks 😊

Don't underestimate the power of interesting necklines, or great jewellery. It will draw attention upwards.

Thank you, one of the silver linings to all this is that I now have great boobs so they can be well utilised on days where I don't need to look 'appropriate'
