Shoes with midi skirts

What shoes do you wear with midi skirts/dresses or cropped wide leg trousers that hit mid calf length? I have quite a few for work bought in the sales last year but no clue about footwear. I wear chunky brogues with black tights to work all winter, never a heel. Outside of work I would wear low converse or Birkenstocks but I can't get away with trainers or open toed shoes at work. Any thoughts?

Chunky loafers. Plenty around at the moment. Platforms are back if they are for you!!

What are your ankles like? Are you tall? Do you like to dress casually or are your midis more formal looking?

I’ve been wearing (tan suede) chunky boots with my midi/maxi skirt. Not sure about what to wear once the weather warms up but it’s not hot enough for sandals. I’m a brogue-wearer too, but I think they look a bit Amish-wife with midis

Flat or low heeled pumps or courts. Flat, lace up ankle boots.

@MaximumPleasure I'm short, I have decent ankles I would say! I'm pretty slim but with a definite mum tum. I cannot do heels for work (need to be able to run!), smart environment but not suits, just professional dress.
@Flockameanie I totally agree. I'm not young enough to do the frumpy thing ironically, it just looks mumsy on me now.
@NatashaDancing By flat pumps do you mean ballet flats? Or something else.
