Hi there, I'm seriously considering getting a Dyson Airwrap. Those that have one would you recommend it and would you get a particular model? Thanks

I've got the new one and so far it gives a nice bounce but the curls don't hold for me. Next month I will be getting more layers in my hair and will see if that makes a difference. I have thick, coarse hair.

Also there's people raving about the shark one which is cheaper, maybe also look into that as well.

My hair is just one length

I got one for Christmas and really rate it as a blow dry tool. It takes a few more minutes to section hair and dry it with the brush attachments but it's worth it as my blow dry then lasts for a good few days. The brush and attachments are light enough so that it's not a hardship to use. I have a great Parlux hairdryer but it's really quite heavy and I don't have the coordination for a hairbrush and hairdryer.

The curls don't really hold for me (I have super fine hair) but they do give my hair lots of body.

I haven't used my hairdryer since I got my Airwrap. Worth it for me.

I gave DD a choice of which one to get her for Christmas.
She did loads of research and opted for The Shark, she loves it. It was cheaper too

I was given one as a Christmas gift 2 years ago by DH and I only use the blow dryer, soft brush and round brush. All of the air wrap bits just sit there staring at me. I watched loads of YT videos but still have no idea how to make them work on my hair, especially at the back when I can't see what I'm doing. I would happily sell the whole thing and just go back to using a dryer and straighteners.

UpToonGirl · 29/03/2023 10:45

The shark is cheaper but most of the reviews I've seen say it gets hotter than the dyson.

I've got heavy thick hair that doesn't hold a curl with either the dyson or tongs/straighteners but I do like the brush attachments. That being said for me it's a bit expensive for a drying brush but I don't feel like it's damaging my hair. The revlon brush gives me a better result but I only use it every sp often because it does feel harsher.

One of DDs has got one and loves it. Just past shoulder length fine hair.

It gives body and bounce. Her loose curls seem to stay in longer than when she used the GHDs.

She showed me how it wraps the hair round the barrel all on it's own ! I was v impressed 😃

MissEira · 29/03/2023 11:52

I love mine. Curls hold really well, but i have fine wavy hair already and i put curl enhancer in my hair before i use it.
It takes ages to style my hir with it though (40mins or so) and i have very little hair. I dont really have time for it, so i only use it for special occasions.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 29/03/2023 12:04

I got one for Christmas and just think it’s not worth it for the price. Wish I’d got the ghd soft curl tong. And I’m someone who likes to sit and faff with my hair. But the curls/waves just don’t last and I don’t think I should buy 10 thousands different products to help a £500 gadget work properly.

mama2girls0 · 29/03/2023 16:24

Thanks all, that's really helpful

Also this.

I really want to love it but I don't. Would never tell DH though as mine was also a £££ Christmas present.

I got one, returned it under the 'try it' policy from QVC. Absolutely rubbish on my hair.

I have fine hair, but loads of it. It made me look like a fluffed up poodle from the 80's.
