bikinis at 50

We have booked a summer holiday in Mallorca, first time abroad since covid struck. I ordered a new bikini as a treat and I think I look terrible in it! The bikini itself is fine - nice quality fabric and a good fit, but I am not as toned or young as I was and I'm wondering if there is a sell by date on wearing bikinis.

Yep going for a wee in a swimsuit is really annoying!

@Ratatouille1 - Yep, it's bad in a swim suit. All in one bodies are even worse on a winter's day. You either have to sit on the loo three quarters naked or, if it's the type with the poppers, you deflower yourself all over again. 😂

I'm over 50 and still wear a bikini ,, swimsuits are too annoying

Wear it and don't care what people think.

I wear bottoms that have a bit more support and sit a bit higher than those I wore in my 20's. But anyways, you're on holiday and never going to see these people ever again.

I'm 50 and far more fat and wobbly than I'd like. I wear a bikini now. I didn't use to, but you see plenty of bigger, wobblier women on holiday who ooze confidence so now I'm a proud bikini wearer.

I am 43 with a BMI in the 'overweight' bracket and yet more confident wearing a bikini now than I was as a svelte 20-something. One of the things that helped me get confident when younger was seeing the many shapes, sizes, and ages of real-life women wearing them on holiday vs. the unachievable model types in magazines. Be one of those women, OP - and enjoy yourself!

You see loads of German and Dutch women who don't give a fig about their size or their age wearing bikinis!

I don't even own a one piece swimsuit (don't think I have since forced swimming lessons at infant school which weren't successful for me).

I'm fatter than I've ever been. I'm not overjoyed about it but I'm working to resolve that, albeit slowly.

Wear your bikini. The reality is, other people are only interested in themselves. Even if you feel self conscious at first, it will pass.

It’s not unusual to observe women well in their mid 70’s on the Med, not just in bikinis but walking around topless too.
I loved one older lady last summer totally wrinkly but totally beautiful (must have been 80’s) taking a stroll on the beach with just a small bikini bottom! Awesome confidence 💪🏻💪🏻

In fact you’ll stand out more if you’re wearing a one piece, trust us!
