No one noticed the massive change

Inspired by threads on here about jeans... I went for it... bought some wide leg jeans and bold trainers.
I usually wear skinnies and black boots/trainers to work.
I was all brave today and wore the boldest jean and trainer combo.
No one noticed/commented?!!!

Lighthearted
Did it look so awful they were being tactful and not comment?
Are all my colleagues so young that this look is so mainstream it's not worth commenting on?
Did I not look as middle aged and dowdy before anyway?!

Anyway - inspired now to just go for it!!

It’s probably a non event for them OP, I wouldn’t be surprised if they comment much later on in your ‘wide leg and trainer’ wearing journey!

PlateBilledDuckyPerson · 27/03/2023 16:59

I think people tend to notice your top half, not your bottom half. They look great in the picture but I can't say I would notice someone wearing them, especially if they were a habitual jeans wearer.

Yorkshirelass04 · 27/03/2023 17:00

Like those trainers - which are they?

Are wide leg jeans and bright trainers the thing now? I feel so behind.

timesogin · 27/03/2023 17:03

Thanks all :)
Shameless posting for validation!!

The trainers are washu ruyi. Bit of a birthday treat!

It's fun to escape your fashion comfort zone!

They probably didn't notice because you normally wear jeans and trainers. I would register if a colleague who usually wore a suit turned up in jeans, but not if someone changed from skinnies to wide leg. I definitely don't think they were judging you.

EllaPaella · 27/03/2023 17:12

Love the Wushu trainers

ShangPie · 27/03/2023 17:13

It’s a good look!

Probably no comments simply because most people are too busy thinking about themselves, their own lives and insecurities to really notice or pay much attention to anyone else.

It’s liberating to realise - it frees you to wear whatever you like, so have fun with your wide leg jeans and bright trainers!

EllaPaella · 27/03/2023 17:13

Wide leg jeans have been back for a while so I suspect it just wasn't a remarkable event OP. You look great though.

Love the Wushu trainers

Me too I want these ones! wushuruyi.com/en/product/master-sport-204/

AllOfThemWitches · 27/03/2023 17:24

It probably just really suits you! I spend up to £150 on a cut and colour every few months and no one EVER notices , if it's any consolation.

Springisintheair123 · 27/03/2023 17:24

It’s not a particularly “out there” look.

Upsidedownagain · 27/03/2023 17:26

I only tend to notice what colleagues are wearing if it's very different from their usual style or a colour that particularly suits them well. I don't think I'd notice if someone was wearing loose legged jeans when they normally wore jeans. Also even if I did notice, I might not comment as I'm in the middle of a work related conversation.

One of my close colleagues was wearing a new jumper dress (do they have a particular name?) a week or two ago. I noticed it was a lovely colour and texture. We worked together a lot that day and I kept admiring it but didn't get round to saying anything for hours.

Jeansandbeans · 27/03/2023 18:19

I think that when you push your fashion boundaries and nobody notices it can, like a pp mentioned, be liberating and help you in terms of giving you the ‘nerve’ to push further and explore things that you might have not wanted to explore otherwise. It’s a good thing!

lindyloo57 · 27/03/2023 18:22

I ordered some wide leg jeans from m&s when they arrived i was showing my dd and she laughed, she's 45 and only wear skinnies, i just wanted to try a new style, but she put me off.

IndianSummer78 · 27/03/2023 18:26

Lindyloo don't pay any attention to her, she's unfashionable, why would her opinion bother you?

I like the new look OP

Jeansandbeans · 27/03/2023 18:30

@lindyloo57 go for it! Try them on with different tops and style them different t ways and then YOU decide whether to keep them. Fashion is meant to be fun!

Penguinduvetcover · 27/03/2023 18:35

Love your trainers…. Can I ask, are they suitable for wide feet?

lindyloo57 · 27/03/2023 18:55

I took them back , I'm petite with slim hips, I did feel they swamped, I do wear a boot cut and a straight style jean, and I still like my skinnies.

lindyloo57 · 27/03/2023 18:56

me,

Sandysandwich · 27/03/2023 19:12

They look nice,
Are the trainers that obvious when under the jeans? They look like they would cover most of your foot and hide lots of the colour?
That might have contributed to them not being noticed

timesogin · 27/03/2023 20:02

@penguinduvetcover yeah they are a bit wide for me really

timesogin · 27/03/2023 20:05

Thanks for nice comments! 😊

Yeah not that out there and the shoes weren't on full display.
It was fun wearing something different :)

AbsolutePixels · 27/03/2023 20:42

Don't know what your young & trendy colleagues thought, but I love those trainers.

Jeansandbeans · 27/03/2023 20:49

If you do want to try wide leg jeans @timesogin then try Boden petite which is what I have. I recommend sizing down! I think for wide leg jeans then you have to have to create an outfit too in terms of all the different proportions and also the outerwear in terms of a coat.
