I am just reading this amazing book. Has anyone else tried The Curated Closet. Any tips?

I've had the book for 3 years, and still not followed the principles 😂 will be following to here other's experiences.

*hear 🙄

I am quite excited. I have just started reading it - well, yesterday, actually. I am going to have a cull of my wardrobe, and be really ruthless. At the moment I am collecting images I like of clothes from the internet, and am thinking about having a wander round the shops - not to buy anything, but for inspiration. Despite having loads of clothes I never seem to have anything to wear, and live in a couple of boring outfits. Hopefully this will help me sort myself out!

I also have this book. Read it about 4 years ago and at the time was quite inspired to sort my stuff. Did a HOC to find out I’m a blue spring. Not done the style one as soooooo expensive. So, inspired by this post l might re-read the book and actually do something!

Wavingnotdowning · 26/03/2023 17:50

Brilliant - good luck

I'm considering giving my friend a call later this evening to see if she feels like a bit of window shopping, and lunch of course!

Ooh - I was just reading reviews of this book on Amazon after someone mentioned it on here. I anyway have to cull my wardrobe as we’re temporarily downsizing (building work) and I will have hardly any clothes storage space. I’ve already started clearing stuff out and putting it on Vinted.

And having recently bought a few new bits that I love I want to figure out how to rebuild my wardrobe around them while I ditch the old stuff! Will this book help me do that??

Wavingnotdowning · 26/03/2023 23:00

I think it might do. Since my last post I have read some more and now have a pile to take to the charity shop tomorrow. I am definitely pleased I bought it. I am having a serious rethink about my clothes. It is quite exciting!

Excellent. I’ve just bought a copy!

I worked my way through this last year and found it really helpful. I've got a much better sense now of my style and it's stopped me making impulse purchases of stuff that won't work with anything else I have!

Tiddlywinkly · 27/03/2023 09:51

I've had a copy for about a year. I've got writing and post-its all over it. I've found it very useful for evaluating my wardrobe and helping me to focus on what's missing rather than constantly just buying pretty tops!

I thought about buying the associated workbook, but I don't think it's necessary.

Would recommend.

Chrysanthemum5 · 27/03/2023 13:26

Interesting @Tiddlywinkly I wondered about buying the workbook but not the actual book

Tiddlywinkly · 27/03/2023 14:05

@Chrysanthemum5 I didn't buy it because I'd already read the book and done the work before I realised there was a workbook. Maybe someone on here can comment on the workbook?

Tiddlywinkly · 27/03/2023 14:08

Had a quick look on Amazon. The reviews for the workbook look good.

BeretRaspberry · 27/03/2023 14:10

I ordered it secondhand after seeing it mentioned on here. I’ve yet to receive it but I’m looking forward to it. The only thing I worry about is whether it will be relevant or useful for me seeing that I’m plus size (UK 22).

lindyloo57 · 27/03/2023 18:25

I've just ordered it too, managed to buy a second hand one for £6.25 including delivery.

Usernamen · 27/03/2023 18:36

What are the key teachings of the book?

I don’t have too many clothes, but I only wear about a 1/4 of my wardrobe. 😬

DelphiniumBlue · 27/03/2023 19:26

I had a kindle version, without photos, and thought it was great. Then I found a hard copy in a charity shop complete with photos which completely ruined it for me! The clothes and styling looked very ordinary, almost all on the same model and didn't really seem to illustrate the detail in the book.
So go for the kindle version!

Wavingnotdowning · 27/03/2023 21:09

I have been really brave and booked a personal stylist appointment at the end of May, completely free, with no obligation to buy. I will have time to clear out my wardrobe and build up a mood board. I am going to make the most of this.

Sounds great - is it at a particular store?

Why do people post questions that could be more quickly answered by Googling?

I think there are different ones, but I've booked with John Lewis. Making a lot of headway this morning, and finally let go of some items that I love, but haven't worn for 10 years. And, why do I have so many pairs of jeans that don't fit?

Well done. I’m being brutal in my clear out too. Getting rid of lots of things I haven’t worn for years but for some reason felt I should keep. I skim read some of the project333 blog posts and that helped me get my head around how to decide what to keep and what to ditch.
