Urgh - where to start

So, I've had a week off work with clearly too much time on my hands and I'm dwelling on my appearance - it's dull and grey!! I'm 52 this year just think it's about time I started putting a bit more effort in - mostly talking skin care, make up and hair. I've become addicted to YouTubers such as Dominique Saches and Box of Chocolates note both short hair ladies (considering going from almost shoulder length thin lank hair to shorter myself) but hell - they wear A LOT of make up and I don't think it would be practical for me - even though I would love to look that polished and put together - also the financial implications!!Current regime - morning - wash face in shower with Tesco face wash, moisturiser boots own with vitamin c? Make up - EL light double wear (doesn't seem to do much or last?) mascara, blusher, and lipstick or balm. Night no 7 hot cloth cleanser, miceral cleanser, L'Oréal night cream, occasionally put some fake tan on - v v pale.
My life consists of work (clinical role but office environment) walking dog (my happy place) and doing all the usual housework/family stuff, I suppose celebrity who I think always looks lovely is Jennifer Anniston - largely because of her hair and golden skin - something I am never going to have Confused
I would just like to look in the mirror and think I look as nice as I can and be satisfied with that. Sorry it's a long post. Any advice gratefully received!

Three part strategy :
go to a decent hairdresser and discuss your hair with them and ask for their ideas and get them to show you photos. My hairdresser has hundreds on his phone. Make an appointment to do this before you make an appointment to have your hair done.
Go to a department store or Boots and get a make over. For example, go to the No 7 counter and ask them to do a day make up on you and write down everything they use.
Think about the colours you wear and the necklines you choose. Maybe go shopping with a friend for some new clothes or book a personal shopper in a department store. A good way to freshen your look is to think about wearing scarves or necklaces.
I have a friend who asked the hairdresser to make her look like Renee Zellwegger. It didn’t work. No one can look like Jennifer Anniston. She has fillers, Botox, a make up artist, a personal trainer and a nutritionist who checks out the menu in any restaurant she visits. She doesn’t have children and she doesn’t do the housework. To sum up, at a similar age, you probably have a more fulfilling life but it does sound as if you could be making more of what you have.

Why does the OP have a more fulfilling life than Jennifer Aniston?

Always start with hair. Diet and water are so important too.
