Thanks, I have a bit of a green and yellow thing going at the moment. First it was the living room refurb, now it's moved to me.

Ha ha ha 😂

Funny, glad I'm not the only one. What's your colour? I used to hate green as it was my school uniform colour but I finally got over it. Purple used to be my thing, the living room used to be purple and I still have lots of purple clothes. We're thinking of moving all our bedrooms around in the summer before DS1 goes to uni. So we might have a room to paint and get new curtains for to make into our new bedroom, will have to pick colours for that next.

Rollerbird · 30/03/2023 14:45

My colours are green, purple, orange, brown, various shades of.
Hate yellow

OublietteBravo · 30/03/2023 15:26

It took me years to be able to wear navy again after wearing it as my school uniform! I don’t do purple, and I’m a bit wary of pink. I tend to gravitate towards green and orange. Although I think orange home decor might be a step too far!

Netcam · 30/03/2023 15:57

@OublietteBravo, I wonder if that's a think, not being able to wear school uniform colours. I think I'm more of a secondary than primary colour person, I prefer green, purple and orange to red and blue, but yellow is a (relatively recent) exception if it's more mustard. I also like green and purple together. I don't do pastels, a strong, bright fuschia or dark rose is fine but I wouldn't wear pale pink. I think the one colour I wouldn't ever consider wearing is royal blue, although navy and denim type colours are OK.

HorribleHisTories15 · 30/03/2023 17:16

Bless you @Rollerbird , that is very kind. You all look so lovely of late, is it the premise of spring that is bringing out such colour and creativity?

Lovely combination @Netcam , lovely figure.

LOVE these trousers they are one of my faves I think I saw you in a picture of them before. I wish I could find something similar to break out of Mt grey/black habit.

Been out for a walk with a friend, think Spring is trying to arrive, was vaguely warm at times. Engel wool/silk polo neck, Lucy and Yak Blair cotton cord skirt, Icebreaker black merino leggings.

Every one is looking so springy! I love it

countrypunk · 30/03/2023 20:15

@HorribleHisTories15 Love your look today. The cardi really suits you.

HorribleHisTories15 · 30/03/2023 21:57

Thank you @countrypunk , that is really kind of you. I really like wrap clothing, although it seems to have fallen out of fashion.

Purplecatshopaholic · 30/03/2023 22:19

There’s defo something about subconsciously avoiding school colours I think. @OublietteBravo, I share your feelings on navy. I suit it and theoretically should/could wear it, it’s a nice colour, but I struggle with it, lol. Must try harder, lol.

I avoid navy because it makes me think of going into the building society with my mum as a child and all the female employees would be wearing heavy, pleated navy skirts and blouses that were printed like bus upholstery - that's how I feel I look in navy!

EllaPaella · 31/03/2023 06:34

I love navy, it's definitely one of my colours. It was my school uniform colour as well 😀

Fluffodils · 31/03/2023 07:01

Navy is my favourite colour, next pretty much any blue. I avoided bottle green because it was school colour but it’s quite easy to avoid!

dgirluk · 31/03/2023 08:46

Hi everybody, new person here! I've watched your thread for inspiration from all of you for a while - feel like I lost my way with clothes. Been wearing the same stuff for years, now in my mid/late 40s and working for a "cool" company and feeling out of touch.

So I've ordered a bunch of stuff after finding a lady on Instagram whose style I really liked, and hopefully gone for a slightly more modern version of what I was wearing anyway (mostly jeans and hoodies).... And planning to post on here, to keep the momentum going !

First one - although I'm thinking it's a bit school uniform now, but I liked it and made me feel better. I think it was just changing the jeans that did it :) I wore it with black DMs....

Grey jumper Zara
Black top underneath old Next black vest
Cropped jeans also Zara (there's a theme here, although dealing with their returns process has been traumatic!)
Hedgehog socks a Christmas present from a friend 💕

I'll work on my photography so excuse the bad angles, and mess on the floor! Lesson learnt when I wore this for work on a day with just internal meetings was, wear knee high socks because when you sit down and fidget the trousers were only just below knee length and I had cold legs!

I felt like that about navy for a long time too and always wore black or dark grey instead. But I now have a few navy clothes and find it actually works quite well as a dark basic colour. I think it depends on the clothes and fabric, navy polyester would be a no no!

Netcam · 31/03/2023 09:21

@Sooverthemill, glad you're feeling better. DS1 and DS2 are still not fully recovered, DS1 went back to 6th form as he felt he was expected to go and is now worse again. I've insisted he has today off and tries to recover. Today is 2 weeks since teens' first symptoms/positive tests. But now DH says he has a sort throat this morning. He can't really have got something anywhere else as we have been WFH since the boys tested positive. Only going out has been taking the dog out, local walks, we have always had food shopping delivered for years so don't go food shopping. So maybe he and I have not avoided it after all, despite trying to stay separate from the teens. Well, I slept in the same bed as him last night so it will probably be my turn next and we'll probably not be going on holiday to the Cotswolds in a week's time!

Cardigansalltheway · 31/03/2023 11:51

@Fluffodils with lots of navy, black and grey you have an excellent base for introducing some colour. I'd take a look at M&S. They've really upped their game recently and seem to have gone back to what they do best - good basics at reasonable prices in a large array of colours and sizes, with a few fashion led bits thrown in. Looking forward to seeing which colours you go for, maybe start with t-shirts as they won't cost ££ and you can experiment a bit to see what you like and what suits you?

Welcome @dgirluk and I too love your jeans.

Every time I get knitwear out of my drawer I wonder if it's the last wear of that item for this season but I think we've a way to go before the winter clothes get put away.

Jumper: Benetton
Trousers: Zara
Trainers: Adidas

@OublietteBravo Are the stripes on your jumper wonky? Or is that just the angle? I like it!
