If you have ear cartilage piercings and you exercise a lot has it ever been a problem? I want to get a double helix piercing but I'm a bit worried about knocking it in my circuits class. Has this sort of thing happened to anyone or has it been fine? Also how long did you leave it before you swam?
I have a tragus piercing and that's been fine, I've never caught it but it's much more tucked away than the helix so I'm not sure...

Hmm 🤔 I have a double helix piercing and am struggling to see how it would get in the way in the gym? I've done hiit classes in the past, mostly lift weights and run now but have never found it a problem. I also do jiu jitsu and that's a bit tricky, it gets caught easily....so I would say gym is fine, combat sports not so much

Interesting thank you very much. Part of my routine is boxing which is the bit I was worried about but it's training only we don't actually spar. It was more the thought of whacking it with a slam bag or doing burpees or something like that really. I'm not hugely coordinated. I have been known to punch myself in the chin 😆
But that is hugely helpful thank you. Do you swim? If so how long did you wait if you don't mind me asking?

I have one helix piercing and I took my daughter swimming I think about 2 weeks after having it pierced. It got infected and was an absolute nightmare so definitely be careful with swimming 😂 it's fine now though and has healed totally fine! I'd imagine while it's healing it will be sore if you hit it/knock it and it's important to make sure you're cleaning it if you get sweaty etc. but wouldn't say it's bound to be a huge problem with the gym (and especially not once it's healed).

Oh god infected? Poor you. I was thinking of waiting 4 weeks before I swim but maybe best to check with the piercer what they recommend I think NHS website says not within 24 hours!

I had a flat piercing and open water swim. My swim hat caught on my piercing. It was not good! The piercer I went to wasn’t impressed I’d swam in a lake and I had to ultimately remove the piercing.

Oh no @LazyDoll that's a shame. Was it injured from the hat or did it get infected?

Injured I think! Too squished!
