Can we have a thread of nice things for normal people which aren’t super high fashion but look nice?

Is that asking too much?! I feel like I’m stuck in a bit of a rut and on the lookout for some new stuff. Not for any specific occasion.

ive fallen in to a sort of London mum style (and everywhere else) of floral dresses, white trainers, denim / leather jacket etc, and also jeans / t shirts / belted Mac for spring / summer. Of course right now it’s jeans and jumpers.. I saw another thread where a poster was saying how unoriginal both looks are, while I agree they’re also damn comfy but I’m wanting to branch out a little bit.

no oversized knitted dresses with uggs, or ripped crop tops with low cut jeans or anything weird. Just nice stuff that looks nice - what’s everyone wearing?

am mid 30s, 5’ 8”, hourglass size 12-14 if that makes any difference (Ie no cos items)

I think it's the weather and the end of what seems like a long winter. A group of us were just talking about this today - fed up to the back teeth of coats and jeans and sweaters ( for the non workers).

Dresses that aren't floral? Swap trainers for comfy Chelsea boots until it's warm enough for sandals? Different styles of jeans, flares? Mix up the length of your jumper, more cropped with high waist jeans, or more oversized with slim jeans? Wearsmymoney on insta might be worth a look

Agree about just swapping new versions of things to update your look but ultimately if you are happy with what you wear then why change it?

I need new summer trainers, but the idea of wearing Stans again makes me feel bored before I even begin. Any ideas?

I've just dug my old version of this out, and it's making me feel very spring-like. I've had so much wear out of it.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/04/2023 10:12

Actually mine is nicer than that, because mine is cotton.

Great idea for a thread. Thanks op

For an everyday t-shirt that gives a nice shape without tucking in, I recommend the Hush Mimi.

FWIW, another look I wear a lot is ankle length cigarette trousers with a fitted knit top and loafers or lace ups. It gets compliments.

I bought a linen shirt from M&S that's such a vibrant beautiful blue.
DD also bought a couple of simple dresses for her forthcoming graduation holiday with the rest of her year. I'm surprised she was happy to shop at M&S as she normally picks much cooler brands.

I recently found a lady on tiktok who shows trends on women of all sizes, ages and ethnicity. She quite focused on timeless, capsule wardrobe type pieces. Her handle is jenknowsbestblog if anyone is interested.

M&S cropped jeans /chinos/cargos are all good at the moment.

Sooverthemill · 11/04/2023 08:59

Have you looked at me and em?

Sorry that was for @RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie
