have just got freebie gatinuaux or something will report back later. usually use norwegian fisherman one which is cheap, marvellous and non-stinky.

TheMadHouse · 12/02/2008 16:12

Some lovley mumsnetter got me a tube of the Aveda Hand releif for Christmas and it is great, even DH has used some too, so it does not have an overtly feminine smell - Thanks Secret Santa

nailpolish · 12/02/2008 16:15

clarins! love the smell £16

dove pro age, and dove night hand cream

dove good everyday cream £2.99

night one mucht he same price i expect

dont like the body shop one - takes forever to sink in

atrixo tubs for in the house

atrixo sits on my window sill and i apply it after doing dishes etc

£3.99

i LOVE handcream and use it in gallons. job involves lots of handwashing so i use tons at work too

nailpolish · 12/02/2008 16:16

DONT like the nuetrogenaa one - too sticky - feels like a film is left on your hands. yuk. and you need the strenght of a thousand men to sqeeeeeeeeeeeze it out of tube

sfxmum · 12/02/2008 16:18

Clarins absolute all time favourite

janeite · 12/02/2008 16:24

I am yet to find a handcream that I do like but can list many that I don't!!!

Vaseline one, Neutrogena one, E45 one - all too greasy and filmy.

Dove one - stinks.

Clinique - it's okay but it just sort of sits on my hands.

Elizabeth Arden - don't like the smell.

Various cheapo Boots ones - truly nasty.

The only couple I've found that are reasonable (but not to the point of me buying again) are:

Boots Time Delay - cheapish and pretty inoffensive

Aveeno (sp?) - nice but the pot is too big for carrying around

Origins - not bad but too pricey

I have just about resigned myself to witch hands

DualCycloneCod · 12/02/2008 16:26

clarins is often at tkk maxx

Clarins - can't afford it but my friend and I buy it as presents for each other twice a year.
Could not be persuaded by another brand now

millie1 · 12/02/2008 16:39

Handcream addict ... love (in no particular order and it really depends on time of year as to how dry/ugh my hands are)

Clarins
Aveda
Jurlique (esp Lavendar) www.jurlique.co.uk/icat/body_care_moisturise
Barielle from Space NK is okay too

Actually, Jurlique is my fav

MyEye · 12/02/2008 16:41

Dr Haushcka or however you spell it. Smells delicious and sinks in straightaway

sfxmum · 12/02/2008 16:50

soap&glory hand food
is ok too but the smell is quite strong

alwaysdoingsomething · 12/02/2008 16:56

Liz Earle "hand repair [http://www.lizearle.com/products_details.php?range=4&groupid=23&mnuid=1]" is good though I'm not that keen on the smell. Reminds me of little old ladies.

alwaysdoingsomething · 12/02/2008 16:57

I'm just rubbish at links [http://www.lizearle.com/products_details.php?range=4&groupid=23&mnuid=1] Liz Earle

brendar75 · 12/02/2008 17:05

Another vote for Body Shop Hemp hand cream - I get contact dermatitis and this is the only thing that sorts it out - it's fab.

MrsMattie · 12/02/2008 17:05

I can't believe nobody has picked up on the fact that Aveda's one is called 'Hand Relief'

GetOrfMoiLand · 13/02/2008 11:13

who was it on mumsnet said recently that handcream is an excellent substitute for hair serum? Well they are going to end up saving me a fortune, and also have now found a use for MIL bought hand cream sets for Christmas. So much better than more-expensive-than-its-weight-than-gold john frieda frizz ease

OliviaMumsnet · 13/02/2008 11:18

Another vote with mrsflowerpot for Eliz Arden 8 hour cream hand cream. It's brilliant but it was a present. Not sure I'd fork out £18 for a handcream normally.

Molton Brown pump action Naranji dispenser £14
Looks Vairy Naice in your bathroom but is actually quite greasy and smells q overpowering. 6/10

AbbyMumsnet · 13/02/2008 13:46

Balance Me www.balanceme.co.uk/products_subindex.asp?ProductPriceId=18&ProductSubTypeId=5 super moisturising handcream with Shea Butter - £12.99 - smells phenomenal, makes hands bit greasy for a while, but mine are perpetually knackered due to lack of (say it quietly) dishwasher, so can live with that. Arden's 8 hour cream - the real stuff, not the handcream, is worth whacking on at night if you have really dry hands.

or a dishwasher

Can't be doing with marigolds, end up feeling like someone from CSI

Surroundedbysnot · 13/02/2008 14:11

I read that as 'extra dry arses'. (Prob because mine is).

ladywombling · 13/02/2008 14:13

Dermalogica hand and nail treatment is the best i've tried. Has no proper smell as such, but to me smells of sesame. It is totally non greasy, and sinks in straight away, v moisturising, and your hands feel softer much longer than others I have tried. the softness remains, even after my hands have been in water, I really rate it, and have tried loads, either too greasy or too light most of the time.

OliviaMumsnet · 13/02/2008 16:30

Ooh just remembered the very unattractively packaged but not unattractively priced DermaGuard from MN favourite Lakeland at just £5.29

Doesn't smell, not too greasy and bottle lasts ages though not really pop-in-yer-handbag size and Too Ugly to be left out for people to see.

doggiesayswoof · 13/02/2008 16:38

I like Dr Hauschka although at that price - £9 - it's a treat (tube is 50ml & doesn't last that long if you are using it a couple of times a day)

Smells lovely, sinks in really well so you can immediately type/make phone calls/drive etc without waiting an age for greasiness to go away. 7/10

Last thing at night, I use Diprobase ointment - v greasy, but effective - I get it on prescription (because free atm) but available to buy It is v cheap and great if your hands are seriously dry.

I have eczema and v reactive skin so lots of things are out, but these both do the job without irritating
