What colour suit do you think looks nicest (men)

I am helping my brother buy a suit for him to wear at a family wedding but also want one where he can wear on different occasions e.g. other weddings, formal meetings, work meetings etc..

What colour suit do you think looks nicest for someone who is under 35. He is 30. I was thinking between navy and grey. But I am not sure whether to go for lighter suit colours or stick with darker suit colours.

I think it depends on the colouring of the person rather than how old they are. I'd suggest going and trying on some different ones and see which looks best

Navy suits always look good.

Navy generally looks good though slightly trickier to match shoes with. DH has a beautiful pale blue linen mix suit, it looks fantastic on him but has slightly limited use, it only really comes out for summer weddings and the occasional more formal christening.

Forest green suits are always appropriate and unexpected. Failing that, a beautiful navy suits most people and is timeless.

Navy with dark tan shoes, white shirt looks nice. Can the then jazz it up with a tie / handkerchief

Depends on colouring and season but I think charcoal is a classic that suits everyone and would be suitable for all the occasions you mention. I personally find navy a bit uniform-y unless it's a very good fabric (not necessarily a bad thing at all).

I've seen some lovely dark red suits, that are a bit different but not wildly outlandish also pale blue in summer. Both of these more for weddings/ social occasions than work in my opinion although could be worn as separates.

Dark navy wool.

Slim fit suits in mid/dark blue with tan shoes is the fashion with younger ones at the moment.
Dark grey can also work well.

Definitely dark grey with black shoes.

Another vote for navy

A light navy/mid blue is currently very fashionable and so I'd avoid that as it will look dated quite soon. So if he goes for navy, make sure it's very dark. Black or dark grey might work, I think black is probably most multi-functional, as in, OK for weddings, funerals, and smart evening events.

As someone else has said, mid-blue has been very popular for a little while.

Navy

He should try on a couple of suits. My husband, a faded redhead, looks much better in dark grey than navy. Most men I see in navy suits are wearing black shoes rather than tan but maybe we're not very fashion forward.

Navy is always a winner. I've never seen any man look bad in a navy suit.

Navy or a beautiful charcoal grey. Definitely no to mid-blue.

Also, no brown in town. Nothing spoils a beautiful navy suit than brown or tan shoes (and belt).
