I have 2 and I haven’t used them for a few years as I WFH but I’d never get rid of them. I’m planning on changing job this year so if I go back to an office they might get some more use. I used to have a lot of Mulberry bags but sold most of them and am now down to about 10ish but plan to sell on a few more as I know there’s a couple that I’m unlikely to use again.

I bought a Bayswater (the larger one, no shoulder strap) many years ago as a treat following an achievement. Honestly if it wasn't for the circumstances of why I bought it and the depreciation (bought full eye watering price) I'd have sold it years ago.
Mostly because it is soooooo heavy. I love the colour of mine. I don't think the rigid style is very cool but that doesn't bother me so much as the fact that you can have barely anything in it and it feels like you're carrying a bag of bricks.
Reckon I've used it a dozen times at best, still looks new. Bugs me so much I didn't stop and consider a cross body rather than get carried away with a classic purchase of the era.

I'm the same as @Peestachios, mine was a gift from family following an achievement. I've used it probably ten times max for all the reasons mentioned on this thread - it's heavy, doesn't sit on my shoulder, and looks a bit outdated. I would have sold it already if not for the sentimental value and the fact it was a gift.
I do still quite like the look of it but it doesn't fit with my lifestyle at all. I feel like it'd work well for someone who lives in the countryside and drives around in a Range Rover, less so for me when I'm lugging it round a city on public transport.
The only time I could think I'd use it would be for weekend trips away, but I have a Longchamp that is far lighter, easier to carry and fits way more stuff in.

I got my black Bayswater for my 30th birthday in 2009 and I think I probably used it 5 days a week for about 8 years and aside from the curled edges it is still in amazing condition. I think this speaks to the quality. Back then I think it was only about £650 and. It over £1k as they are now.
when I go to the office now I use my longchamp as it’s so light but I might send my Bayswater to a spa and see if I can start using it again
i also have an Alexa mini but for some reason I bought it in cream and I’m always too scared to use it!

I have a chocolate brown East West bayswater with the over shoulder straps and that one is a great size. I have the full size in a burnt peach colour which almost never gets used but I still consider it a classic bag. It's more the sort of thing I would take to a business meeting which happens rarely as I am self employed and wfh. I use a Daria Hobo day to day and it's a great bag to just throw around.

I saw this mulberry on a very chic woman at the train station this week and I think it's a Bayswater. I took a photo as I wanted to be able to look it up! I thought paired with a simple wool coat, straight leg jeans and trainers it looked very chic. Interesting to hear others think it's a dated bag.

No, but having read this thread I might get it out and use it.
I’ve also got a Roxanne gathering dust, but I can’t see that coming back into fashion.
Ditto - hardly ever used my Roxanne though as it was so heavy. My Bayswater is definitely well-used but still good as the leather is so thick.

Wow. Very stylish. I love that she is a real person and not an advert

I think that the east west Bayswater is the best design of bad ever - I love my full size Bayswater but it is heavy - my east west is the right size and fits on my shoulder. My full size Bayswater was bought in 2005 - I don't know if the straps were shorter then or I'm just too fat but I have definite seen people with Bayswaters on their shoulders.

I have also resurrected mine as a result of this thread. It is a plain black calfskin and I am going to attempt to incorporate it into my casual wardrobe. I basically stopped using it when Covid happened (have never returned to a smart office). I seriously need to get my style mojo back and maybe my Bayswater can help!
hettiethehare · 19/03/2023 16:17
I used to wear my Bayswater on my shoulder - I don’t think I could manage it with a thick coat, but it was fine with a jacket. I bought mine in 2005 (oak Darwin) and it was a present to myself when I qualified and I loved it so much!
I wish I’d dug it out to take out to lunch today now, it would have been perfect.
