GHDs or something else?

I’ve had two pairs of GHD straighteners in the last 20 years. My most recent pair are about 10 years old and died on me yesterday.

should I replace with another pair of GHDs or is there something better now?

Cloud 9’s are better than GHD since they changed how they are made.
But actually I think the cheaper ones have come on hugely too. I have a cheap pair and they really are good (Babylis and Remington are ones to look at).

Cloud 9s for me too. Apparently it’s the original owner of GHD that makes the Cloud 9s and GHD have supposed to have gone downhill.

I never liked my GHDs much to be honest and they were early ones.

There are some Remington ones that people rave about and they are good at straightening, however, I noticed that they wrecked my hair after a while.

I had my ghds for over twenty years. When they gave up the ghost, I got cloud nines. I really like them as they are kind on my hair and give me a more natural look.

Another vote for Cloud Nines here. I had my original GHDs for over ten years. When they died, I went with new GHDs and found they were rubbish! Got Cloud Nines and super happy with them.

I’ve had my GHDs for over 10 years and they stopped working last week. I was looking at replacing but decided to send them off for repair (googled GHD repair) and they’re on their way back to me (they’ve emailed to say they are repaired and working). About £30 all in.

Which company did you use? There’s quite a few!

Which cloud 9’s did everyone get? The original or the Touch ones?

Think mines are the touch ones. Keep an eye out for offers. I got a free travel bag and other bits with mine.

I've used GHD angels to repair mine once before they're now about 20 years old I think; one repair about 9 years ago.

I don't use them much these days; really like my ghd hairbrush for a more natural look and less time intensive use though.

I used GHD-Repair.co.uk. They’ve emailed to say -

The following work has been carried out during the repair of your item:

  • R8 and/or R11 replaced on the PCB
  • New cable fitted
  • Cable socket greased
  • PAT tested
Your item is now working correctly and has been fully tested. It will be posted back today or the next working day.

I had an email the other day that boots were doing a % off cloud 9's. I treated myself to the green ones last year and my hair has never looked so good
