Is a headband ok in place of a hat or fascinator?

I'm going to Ascot in June and need to wear a hat or fascinator. Both look terrible on me! Would something like this be acceptable?

Are you in the royal enclosure?

I think headbands are the new fascinators. That one is lovely !

I don't think it's the Royal Enclosure but we have fine dining hospitality, so I know it's pretty fancy. Ugh I think I'm going to have to get something else. My husband thinks it's unsuitable but I love it!

Check the dress code of the area you are in, they are pretty defined and there is no leeway. E.g for the Royal Enclosure your hat must cover the crown of your head so that band would not be allowed, they would decline you entry.

The rules are strict, but they are also clear. Just find out which circle/enclosure you are in and look it up.

Do you have a link for that @poolcrew ? It's beautiful 😊

I've looked up the various dress codes but I'm not sure where we are as my MIL has booked it. I will ask her (time difference so can't check today) but I don't think I will risk it if there's a chance I could get turned away. I've only ever been to the general entry bit where hats aren't needed so I wasn't sure how strict they might be as long as I had some kind of pretty headgear.

It's only from Shein so could be dodgy but it has good reviews. I'm going to buy it anyway and be fancy round the house Grin
