Blonde highlights at home

I have naturally dark blonde hair with sandy blonde highlights. Recently the hair salons in my area have increased their prices so that highlights and toner costs over £100 and with a cut, it’s even more. I’m trying to save money so am thinking of doing some highlights at home.

I already use nice n easy baby blonde dye between appointments but I am considering buying some bleach and toner to try myself. I used to bleach my whole head when I was younger and it lifted very easily. But I’m a bit nervous this time without my teenage confidence!

Does anyone here highlight their hair at home to save money? Do you use a cap or foils? And where do you buy the products? I would appreciate some advice before making the decision to go ahead. Thanks in advance.

I do, in between salon visits. I buy mine from Capital Hair and Beauty but I have an ancient Sports Massage qualification so not sure if they only sell to trade or not.
I literally highlight my parting and round the ears which is where I notice regrowth more. It's cut down on the amount of times I have to have it professionally done. I use foils and I use shade 10.1 and 12% volume which my hairdresser uses.
I'm fairly light naturally though so no idea if this would work on darker hair (am definitely not a professional hairdresser!).
It seems to tide me over and costs A LOT less!
