Have these improved over the years? I used to buy nail polish regularly but haven't for the past few years but would like to paint my toes coming in to spring. What are the best ones about these days?

I like Nailberry but they're quite expensive. I also use a brand called my mood from boots and they're excellent plus much cheaper. Both of these brands last a good while for me as my hands are in water a lot.

I've had nail polishes that had brilliant coverage and lasted well and some that were under-pigmented and chipped, costing from £1 to £10/bottle. Buy a polish with a wide brush if you want application on toes to be easier, and use a top coat. Essie Gel Setter top coat, £8.99 from Boots, Superdrug etc, dries quickly and beautifully shiny and lasts well.

Push back the cuticle and prep with a wipe of acetone to remove water and oils before applying polish. With the top coat, mine grow out before they chip.

I rate Barry m gelly shine. It lasts on my nails a week with a good topcoat before it begins to chip. It's cheap too.
