Scared I could have a BCC

A Basal Cell Carcinoma/Skin Cancer.

I noticed in the last few days, I have an under skin spot on the side of my nose. Not massively noticeable thankfully, but now ive noticed it, I've been looking back at photos, and I can see i've had it for over a year, at least a year and a half.

Its really quite small, but can be seen more in certain lights. Completely flesh coloured. A Hard lump which can't be moved underneath the skin, feels quite deep. I've tried squeezing and theres nothing in it to suggest its a whitehead or pimple. Or a blocked pore. (Surely if it was it wouldn't still be on my face?)

Based on the fact i've had it so long and it hasn't gone away, i'm starting to scare myself thinking i'm going to need a horrific surgery on it and be left with facial scarring. I already live with facial scarring which affects my mental health already. 😢

I do cleanse exfoliate and all, wear makeup, wear SPF every time I go out if that helps. Every day.

I noticed a mark on my nose, had it at least a month but looking at past pictures it's been there linger. Got a gp appointment tomorrow. I'm 41 with fair hair, freckles and had bad sunburn as a child so a bit concerned but of it is bcc I think it's pretty treatable. Best yo get it checked out for peace of mind if nothing else.

BeretRaspberry · 16/03/2023 20:08

Not medical advice obviously but I have something called Sebaceous Hyperplasia on my nose and it can often be mistaken for BCC. Maybe google images of that and see if it’s similar. Regardless, it’s best to get it checked but most of the time, it’s nothing to worry about. Mine had been there for a few years too and I only got it checked because it had grown.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 16/03/2023 20:44

To reassure- it's unlikely to be a BCC but, of course, no one can diagnose you over the internet, so see your GP, to be sure.

In the unlikely event that it is a BCC, they are 100% curable.

AnnaMagnani · 16/03/2023 21:49

It's very unlikely at 33. It's really something people get in their 50, 60s onwards.

But even if you did have one, they are completely cured by excision and yours is sounds so tiny it would barely leave a scar.

My nan had hers done, I don't even recall her having a scar at all.

BobaTea · 03/05/2023 13:01

@scaredofbcc @Dogmumtotwospaniels did you get it checked? I've something similar.

BobaTea · 03/05/2023 13:03

@BeretRaspberry how can they tell it's a Sebaceous Hyperplasia? Did they biosy it?

Dogmumtotwospaniels · 03/05/2023 13:10

Just to.update. Absolutely nothing, felt z bit of an idiot lol but whilst i eas there got him to check a couple more and they're fine too. In fact the one on my nose has completely vanished but always if in doubt check it out!

No, they didn’t with mine. My GP took some pictures of it really magnified with a special camera thing and sent them to the dermatology dept at the hospital. They examined it and they could tell from looking apparently. The GP I had has a special interest in dermatology too, so I was quite reassured. The GP said before she sent the pictures that she thought it was Seb H but she got their opinion to be on the safe side. She mentioned something about looking for blood vessels being a certain way and mine weren’t the worrying way. Hope that makes sense!

Glad to hear it’s nothing to worry about.😊

I’m 28, recently had a bcc removed from my nose/cheek area and have noticed a weird pattern of pores on my nose, not risen and maybe I’m being too over cautious. But could anyone tell me is this normal or something to worry/ does it look like bcc also? ( docs appt booked also btw ) I’ll attach pic ( excuse red dot as I was picking it myself, my other bcc spontaneously bled once which is how I noticed )
