Someone talk to me about fabletics!

I'm wanting to get some things from the Yitty range (Lizzo's brand), but I'm really confused with how fabletics works.

I don't understand the membership and the £54.99 a month which I read you can skip. Can someone explain if it is worth it or just give it a wide berth?

When I did it last year, I got the reduced price introduction leggings. Then I kept forgetting to skip the month so ended up being charged the Member fee a few times, so 1 credit on the account, which you can then exchange for an outfit - credit lasts 2 years on the account I think.

You only skip between 1-5th of the month, and that avoids you getting the £54 debited

You sign up to the 'club' get the excellent 2 for £22 legging offer. they are excellent leggings. it's a one off offer though so you'd have to keep making new accounts if you want the same deal on the leggings.

There is a catch of course..... you get charged £54.99pcm to be in the 'club' which is credit to spend on the website, but obviously nobody wants to spend £54.99 pcm on sports wear. So to avoid being charged £54.99 each month you need to log into your account and click 'skip the month'. if you forget to do this, you get charged.

The easiest way to avoid this is to get the leggings, then cancel your membership completely. I did it via the chat box. they will try to persuade you to stay of course, just be firm.

Bearpawk · 11/03/2023 12:29

Basically it's not exactly a con and if you play the system it will benefit you, but their business model is relying on people forgetting to cancel the membership or skipping the month....

dementedpixie · 11/03/2023 12:35

You sign up as a VIP to get the cheap deal. You either then skip each month you don't want to be debited £54.99 or cancel the membership after your first cheap order

happinessischocolate · 11/03/2023 12:41

It's so bizarre, they look like really good leggings, surely they'd sell more if they didn't have this weird membership which reminds me of Britannia music in the 80s when they sent you an album every month 😁

somanybooks · 11/03/2023 12:49

Such an odd business model. I have some leggings I've loved from them, and would happily buy more, and other things, but I won't. I don't want the hassle of skipping, or the interaction of cancelling membership again. Way too much faff and stress. So they've missed out on multiple potential sales from me alone.

Zooeyzo · 11/03/2023 13:23

They are very good leggings. Keep skipping months until you cancel. I did it on the chatbox.

RicciardoPerez · 11/03/2023 14:43

Thanks all :)

If you're near London, there's a shop on Regent street now.

I love them, really good quality and stay up well.

Took advantage of the sign up offer then cancelled so I didn't get hit with the payments.

Rememberal · 11/03/2023 14:56

I was skipping months religiously because I couldn't be bothered with the cancel chat but I actually stopped skipping some months when I felt like treating myself.

You tend to get "an outfit" for the membership price and honestly both their leggings and their cotton joggers (tracksuit type style?) are some of the best quality I've had. I live in sweaty betty but they've redesigned their tank tops (horrendous now!) and the last pair of leggings I bought I suspect have been redesigned too as they roll down every time I move (and they're like £80 a pop?!).

So despite the ridiculous business model, I actually really rate Fabletics. Wish I could just buy like any normal shop.

Acunningruse · 11/03/2023 15:06

Just to echo what others have said, absolutely love Fabletics Leggings the fit and quality is unreal. Love that they have pockets. I've had less success with sweatshirts (1 bobbled and another ran in the wash). Their bralette style sports bras are also very good and comfortable for all day wear. Just set a reminder on your phone to skip each month.

megletthesecond · 11/03/2023 15:13

I bought some in a jumble sale and love them but under no circumstances will I sign up to their dodgy subscription.

Their London shop reviews make me think they're written by staff or friends of staff Hmm.

RicciardoPerez · 11/03/2023 15:47

Ok I've decided I'm treating myself!! Thanks again all! I'll probably buy a few things then cancel the membership lol! Then resign up when I want new things :)

Why is it so hard to cancel?

It's not hard to cancel - they do it immediately on the web chat for you. It's remembering to cancel that's the issue!

journeyofsanity · 12/03/2023 12:14

The whole way it works relies on people forgetting to skip or cancel. That's such an unethical system I feel. It relies on customers messing up

I'm reviving this thread to ask a question if anyone is able to explain - I just wondered how the monthly credit works in terms of what you can buy? I saw on another older Fabletics thread that you can't use the credit to buy sale items, so how do you access the sale items?? If I were to sign up to VIP, get the cheap leggings, then skip the month, as a VIP can I then buy sale items too? Or can you actually use the credit to buy sale items now? I am confused! Any help or explanations welcome...

I seem to remember credit (from the monthly fee) can only be used on full price items.
You can buy sale items separately as a member.

emsyj37 · 21/05/2023 08:37

Ah ok, so do you need to have the VIP membership I.e. the subscription to buy sale items do you know, or just a login account??
Why does it have to be so complicated 😕
