Very damaged hair..pic attached

Just hoping there's a way to reverse or even just prevent further damage to my fringe. As can be seen from the pic, my hair is highlighted but olaplex is put in the bleach. Just the front part is literally snapping off. What can I do? Are there any miracle treatments out there? I can't cut it or it'll be way too short. All advice greatly appreciated 🙏

Preventing further damage - don't bleach it again, use minimal heat (none if possible!) and a really good repeating hair routine (shampoo / conditioner / masks). But less heat and no more bleaching would be the best imo.

LancashireSquirrel · 10/03/2023 16:09

No heat, silicone/sulphate free shampoo, wash it less often and Philip Kingsley Elasticizer. Oh, and no more bleach, ever.

Ihateboris · 10/03/2023 18:43

Thank you . .I'm going to grow the bleach out.

Aveda Botanical Repair mask saved my hair after too much bleach.

LadyWesselDown · 10/03/2023 19:52

Isn't that just baby hair and frizz?

LadyWesselDown · 10/03/2023 19:53

Hmm, I have this sort of thing around the top of my hair, never bleached it, sleep on silk pillow, use heat twice a month only...... I thought it was normal !

Shahira78 · 10/03/2023 20:17

I can only count a few hairs. Please don't worry about this, it's barely noticable!

Annabananna1 · 10/03/2023 20:20

I don't really see what you mean. Hair looks in good condition to me.
Those are just flyaways / baby hair / normal damage

The Philip Kingsley elasticicizer is good (bit pricey). Good shampoo / con is important, Redken works well for me.

Bleach Londin hair mask

Bigpaintinglittlepainting · 10/03/2023 20:42

Your hair line looks like mine, isn't that just baby hairs ? Bleach London do a treatments which is good for bleached hair

I've heard that olapex can cause hair to snap off by bonding too much protein to the hair ??? I dunno but have heard that it can cause damage

Really love the room btw !!

Ihateboris · 10/03/2023 22:25

Thank you for all replies and suggestions.

To the people suggesting it could be baby hair, unfortunately, it is definitely broken but the picture doesn't clearly show it.

I am wondering if I have over used the Olaplex, so will stop that and try the Aveda repair treatment. I've tried London Bleach, but it didn't help.

In the meantime, I'll have no more bleaching!

Thanks again everyone.

Hi,

I've tried London Bleach but unfortunately it didn't help. Yes, I've also heard that overuse of Olaplex can cause breakage, so I'll stop using it for a while.

Thanks for the compliment regarding my lounge...I keep fairy lights up all year to cheer me up 😂

Give the PK Elasticiser a try , I couldn't get on with Olaplex or Bleach London mask .
I'd tried Elasticiser years ago and decided to give it another try (bought a gift pack from M&S at Christmas £10)

My hair is doing really well, I had huge hair loss after illness , it was a thin, candyfloss type greying mess .Stuck out like Ken Dodd's hair ( I know , I'm a catch , yeah!)

QVC have this at the moment (I don't work for them)
www.qvcuk.com/Philip-Kingsley-Bluebell-Woods-1L-Elasticizer.product.247617.html?sc=NAVLIST

(1 litre £66.96 , free P&P and you can pay in 4 instalments )
They have the 60 day money back guarentee

I don't know what the Bluebell Wood smells like , I bought a jar+tube of the original a couple of months ago and I'm working through that .

Olaplex is sold as the holy grail and it’s just not. It doesn’t work for everyone, me included. Plus salon Olaplex is different to off the shelf.

Are you bleaching it yourself?

No, I wouldn't dare do it myself 😁. I go to a salon but I'm going to stop bleaching it for a while. Also may have a fringe cut in to get rid of the very damaged parts.

Too much protein in the hair can cause it to snap.
If you take a snip of your hair, pull it slightly and it feel elastic, it needs more protein. If it snaps it's too much.
Lay off the olaplex or any shampoo/ conditioner that has keratin in it for a while.
I love PK elasticiser or just try any moisturising treatment.

Kittycattenklump · 11/03/2023 18:06

I can see some root regrowth but puzzled, hair look sleek, ok to me.

god knows what you'd all make of my wild wayward head, lol, even at it's most healthy I look feral.

Kittycattenklump · 11/03/2023 18:11

On a serious note, ive found the only way to avoid this is not bleaching. I think we sometimes have to accept that there will be some breakage. Although I have found with my own that it goes through moods - the same treatment will produce a random result which I cant always predict.. on many occasions hilighting my dark blonde hair has caused no ill effects whatsoever, then boosh!
