Weak, ridged fingernails

My nails have never been great, they split, break off, have vertical ridges, not discoloured. I keep them short. I'm in general good health, good diet and take Vitamins A & C.

I have a couple of events coming up and would like a manicure to dress them up a bit! Is there anything topical that can effectively be applied to strengthen them?

If the weakness/brittleness is caused by a fungal infection I can recommend Batrafen. Albeit outside of the UK, I was able to buy this over the counter at the pharmacy and it cleared up the ridges and brittleness on my nails in a surprisingly short time

Not fungal as far as I can see - they're not discoloured and the skin underneath is pink and healthy looking, but I'll have a look at your product, thanks.

The therapist who does my pedicures recommended I rub oil in them, so currently doing that with almond oil.

I have this. Tried everything. Nothing works. My nails were fine till I had children.

I had similar last year and my doctor suggested magnesium. It did the job, I used Superdrug's own brand.

Thanks - I'll have a look at magnesium.
