If I were raising an inward eyebrow it would be at a brown or tweed suit at a wedding , not a black suit.

I don't see the slightest problem with a black lounge suit as long as it's not with a black tie.

So you would consider this tweed suit to be a weird/strange choice for a wedding? That's somewhat unusual.

In the UK it's far more usual for a man to wear charcoal, navy, grey, tweed etc. to a wedding than black. That's not to say men never wear black, but it's not the norm unless the wedding dress code is black tie.

Yes tbh.

Difficult to tell from the but it looks like the sort of tweed suit country estate land managers/ rural property surveyors wear when they need to be smart in front of clients. Or someone who doesn't usually wear or own a suit and has bought it specially.

No - unless you were a goth or emo in your younger days and are still channeling the misery.

Meandfour · 10/03/2023 14:43

It’s very Morticia Addams.

SomePeopleAreJustBloodyStupid · 10/03/2023 14:45

Horrible, and definitely not suitable for any wedding

CiaoBellisima · 10/03/2023 14:52

What type of med wedding is it? Remember, if it’s a church wedding you may need to cover shoulders.

StephenDedalus · 10/03/2023 14:54

How do all the brides in strapless dresses manage at Church weddings?

I am now finding the 'wedding rules' fascinating!

In a Catholic church, it will be down to whether the priest agrees it.

Most weddings aren't in a Catholic church of course, but many are.

LookingOldTheseDays · 10/03/2023 15:53

And if it's a church wedding in the Med, it may well be catholic. It won't be CoE, that's for sure!

Of course, it might not be in a church at all.

In Ireland, there’s no issue at all with bare-shouldered wedding dresses in Catholic churches.

I love the coast dress that @Findyourneutralspace linked on page one!

It's a bad thing when you're not a a child in the Addam's family but are instead are a grown woman looking for a gorgeous frock for a wedding.

DiscoStusMoonboots · 10/03/2023 16:17

I love it and would gladly wear it to a wedding (if they weren't funny about wearing black). Where is it from, if you don't mind me asking? I have a wedding to go to this summer...

Yes, I didn't get why that was a bad thing.

As for "gorgeous frock"- it's much nicer than the horrors suggested on here.

SirChenjins · 10/03/2023 16:56

No it isn't nicer - it's a knock-off version of something a child would wear in a fictional gothic comedy show.

StephenDedalus · 10/03/2023 17:19

Absolutely @LesserBohemians!

This is just another example of totally outdated, fairly ridiculous 'rules" people think exist around weddings. As I said I'm finding it fascinating.

StephenDedalus · 10/03/2023 17:20

What are you talking about @SirChenjins ?

SirChenjins · 10/03/2023 17:28

What not are you struggling to understand @StephenDedalus

SirChenjins · 10/03/2023 17:28

Which bit even

NatashaDancing · 10/03/2023 17:43

Presumably this is bit StephenDedalus is referring to. Whether you loathe, like or love the black dress it definitely does not look like that.

I do hope the OP hasn't been put off this dress in exchange for the Coast monstrosity.

BrutusMcDogface · 10/03/2023 17:47

I find it fascinating that I think the coast dress is absolutely stunning, and the OP’s original one hideous (sorry!) and other people think exactly the opposite! Each to their own/beauty is in the eye of the beholder etc etc!

Killingmytime · 10/03/2023 17:54

LOVE IT

Yes it does look like that - it looks exactly like something Wednesday would wear.
