Balayage or highlights?

Hi, I’ve been getting highlights forever and love being blonde but I’m worried I’m looking a bit past it. I find my roots are visible really quickly and they never look that great. Any thoughts? Will balayage look awful?

Balayage didn’t work for me. I just looked like I’d gone back to my natural colour (drab mouse). After 35 years of highlights it was too much of a change, and I went back the following week for it highlighting.

It sounds like you just need to adjust the colour and fine-ness of your highlights. Maybe have a toner put on to make it look more natural as well. I’ve recently gone more honey and less ash with my highlights and it’s more flattering to my aging skin now.

Have a chat with your hairdresser. If they’re any good, they’ll be able to advise and adjust your colour a little without making dramatic changes.

I think I need a toner, can I buy myself? It looks a bit harsh to me these days.
