Britney Spears perfume

I should say from the out that I do have quite a wide range of perfumes, some high end and some dupes. Never have I tried a Britney scent as I just assumed these were marketed for teens/20 somethings.

The runner on my perfume drawer broke so I could not get into my drawer. In my stash cupboard are quite a few things that I have bought along the way when I have found them as a bargain, and I use them for gifts. I have a dd who likes sweeter fragrances, so I got the Private Show spritzer to put into a birthday/ Christmas gift.

As I couldn't get into my drawer, I gave myself a blast of this before I left the house, it was a risk I know, but anyway.....

Do you know how many compliments I got!!!

I was really having a quiet chuckle to myself, as I have not had this many compliments in one day whilst wearing any of my high end fragrances.

It really is not something I would usually wear, but it has quite grown on me and I feel like I am 30 years younger. I am 52 btw 😀

I was even quite surprised as to how long it lasted, seeing as its just a body spray/spritzer so not even an Eau de Toilette.

Anyone else had a pleasant surprise like this?

Britney perfumes are amazing. I am 42 and been wearing various ones for years and have worked for Chanel and Clinique and never get as many compliments as when I wear Britney ones! (Over and above the more luxury ones)! You can get them fairly cheaply from Amazon and Superdrug usually. Fantasy is my favourite.

doozledog · 07/03/2023 07:49

Ive heard this before i need to try!

I think I just realized why I found this one going cheap. It looks like Private Show may have been discontinued...

I am quite intrigued now and think I will have a look for Midnight Fantasy and give that a try as well.

I have not bought one of these spritzers before (I see its really called Mist) but I may look for more of these. It seems to last well enough on me, so may as well get the huge bottle over the smaller one with the same scent.

I am a Chanel lover too, so I don't think Britney will take top place, but it is a really nice change. Its summer here, so it is light and fresh and yes a bit sweet, but its pretty good feeling 22 again.

Can you (or someone) describe the different Britney scents in very basic non-expert terms? My dd likes quite sweet, light, maybe warmish (?) fragrances, whereas I like more herbal, woody, deeper or spicier (??) fragrances.

To be honest none of them are really deep or spicy. Midnight fantasy is probably the more sensuous, night time sort of one but all the others are quite floral and sweet- which is lovely if you like that sort of thing. Fantasy and Curious are quite similar, Fantasy probably has slightly more vanilla / pink pepper. But I’m not an expert at all, that’s just my personal view!!

For a cheap deep and spicy type scent I’d try something from Beyoncé.

Xrays · 07/03/2023 09:06

This one is my other favourite as a deeper, muskier alternative to Britney ones -

I can only go by Private Show, which is now still going strong since I sprayed it 5 hours ago (so it lasts pretty well for a mist).

It is sweet, when I first sprayed it had a candy floss/creamy sweetness. Now its completely changed and seems more vanilla/musk yet still a bit sweet but not as sweet as earlier.

It is definitely not your herbal/woody type you prefer, but this is what I normally would wear as well. Yet this one is really growing on me. I suspect it will be moving out of the stash cupboard into the drawer.

I would also love to hear anyone else's description of the blue Midnight Fantasy in lay terms if possible.

I think we cross posted.

I will keep my eyes out for Midnight and give it a try.

That's great, thanks both.

Sounds like various Britney scents might be great for my dd. She'd love the one you are wearing :)

I probably didn't describe my preferences very well - I wouldn't say I like sensuous scents, I've clearly got the lingo wrong 😅

miawallacesfeet · 07/03/2023 09:19

I love the pink fantasy. The blue one is similar but more vanilla and definitely quite cloying for my tastes

miawallacesfeet · 07/03/2023 09:19

Anyone know what the hidden fantasy is like?

Beebumble2 · 07/03/2023 09:25

Not Britney, but a year ago someone gave me a bottle of Juicy Couture Rose, because they liked the sparkly bottle, not my usual perfume style.
When I opened it I was amazed at how lovely it was. I wore it every day and got loads of compliments.

TallulahBetty · 07/03/2023 09:27

The original Fantasy (pink bottle) is my absolute fave everyday scent - I always get compliments on it, people are amazed when I admit what it is

QueefQueen80s · 07/03/2023 09:36

I get most compliments on my Midnight fantasy, been wearing it years now! Not too expensive either

QueefQueen80s · 07/03/2023 09:38

They're all sweet and fruity.

MermaidEyes · 07/03/2023 09:49

Britney perfumes are great. Dd has a few and I often steal a spritz or two when she's out 😆

I have this one too 😀

I bought it at the same sale as the BS, they are both made by Revlon.

At first I disliked it a whole lot. I had sprayed it in the shop and I thought I'd have to scrub it off when I got home. But when I did get home I didn't, and I kept getting this most gorgeous musk scent. I had tried the Amber as well so I thought for a while it was that. But it was the rose. I went back the next day and bought it (in its OTT huge box lol) and it was what I wore most days last winter. I do have to spray it in advance of going anywhere as the first spray is very strong until the die down.

I agree that it is nothing like the normal JC range. These black box ones are the grown up range imo.

We're so influenced by the name and price point. I'm sure if you decanted a Britney or Beyoncé perfume into an edgier bottle and told people it was a new scent by Le Labo lots of people would be tricked into saying they loved it. And would happily hand over £120 for a bottle.

I need to got to The Big Boots at the weekend so will have a sniff of some of Brit's perfumes when I'm there. Seeing as she's no longer recording I hope she gets a nice fat yearly income from her perfume empire.

Breeeeeeathe · 07/03/2023 12:12

I used to wear Curious 15 plus years a go and was really surprised how much I liked it. Always reminds me of Spanish holidays in my late teens, as that's where I first found it. Whenever I smell it now, I'm there again.

I don't think it lasts very long though.

Highlighta · 07/03/2023 12:40

Posting again, for longevity purposes.

I have been out and now home again. The Mist has now been on 8 hrs (applied 6.30am, its 2.30pm now). It has faded, but the crook of my one arm is still giving off a nice scent, although lighter than earlier.

For something that cost me less than 3 gpb I have to say, I am really very impressed.

When I wore it the other day I did not take much notice of how long it lingered, so this has been quite a helpful little test. Now to see what else I can find in the body mist.....

I should add I am not affiliated in any way to Britney 😂

I'm not a perfume person. Never bother. But, I have had several Britney ones over the years, (gifts, mostly - as I've always been a Britney lover) and they are actually lovely. I am quite sensitive to fragrances, they irritate my sinuses etc, but I have never had that problem with my Britneys.
