Dyson hairdryer - does it leave your hair drier?

I had a Dyson when they first came out and then gave up as it made my hair feel like straw (I was 40 at the time. Highlighted it about once every six months.) I then switched to a GHd. My GHD broke just Christmas and I meant to ask my husband for a new GHD hairdryer but instead asked for a Dyson (I hadn’t realised I had asked for the wrong thing until Christmas Day). Anyway - 2.5 months later and my hair is so dry…has anyone else experienced the same?

I haven't

I have the air wrap and wash and dry my hair once a week with it.

My hair is lovely and soft and shiny

I also use sulphate free shampoo, microfibre towels and sill pillow case which all contribute to my hair health in different ways.

Silk pillow case

I actually have both those hair dryers. I bought the Dyson because I have lots of curly hair and the Dyson is simply much easier on my wrist while diffusing. It is also noticeably faster and I prefer the results. But they are both good hair dryers and if the Dyson didn't exist I would be perfectly happy with the GHD. I have never noticed that either give me dry hair.

The thing that gives me dry hair is winter central heating!

I've got the air wrap and I find that I manage to dry big knots into my hair using the hair dryer attachment - my hair is much dryer as I've hit 40 and beyond. I'm sure my technique is faulty...

Smartiepants79 · 04/03/2023 13:08

Nope. Try a lower heat setting??

sausage767 · 04/03/2023 13:34

Quite the opposite.. I have the smoothing attachment also and have stopped needing to use my ghd flat iron altogether.

I was going to say that mine is the opposite too, it's really improved the condition of my hair even though it's grey/highlighted.

The Dyson hairdryer gives me really knotty hair but my hair is really fine and knots easily anyway. I use the Airwrap with the flat brush/smoothing drying attachment and that doesn’t give me any knots at all, I think because it blows my hair around less, and doesn’t leave it dry.

Thanks for all your posts - I think it must be me. The GHD definitely made my hair feel smoother and in better condition but perhaps it is just age!!
