Replica perfume

I ordered the mini memory set of Replica perfumes recently as I heard a lot of praise about them and wanted a new favourite.
I wanted the minis so I could get a few days worth and pick a couple of faves if I found any that were good.
People rave about 'by the fireplace' so I was especially excited to try this. First spray and it smelt smoky after a few hours it was a lot nicer but not amazing in my opinion.
I have found a favourite already and it's 'coffee break'.
But the others didn't blow me away. I really thought they would mostly be amazing but I haven't found that to be.

What are other views on Replica?

Replica? They sound like dodgy knockoffs!

DevantMaJardin · 01/03/2023 21:26

Word salad. Reads like AI writing to me...

AJ2009 · 01/03/2023 21:26

Absolutely not lol.
They are a proper brand and very expensive at that.
The name is replica but they aren't replicas of perfumes

Devant could you explain your comment?

I once bought a roller ball size of one called Beach Walk based on the lovely description alone. "Soft summer breeze....a day at the beach..." you get the idea.

Ugh. Very heavy, sort of generic "perfumey" cloying scent. Hated it.

There was one called something like "Sunday Morning in Bed" that I thought was pretty nice.

Have you tried any of the "Clean" line? You can get sample sets of those as well.

BarbaraWoodlouse · 01/03/2023 21:41

Does Coffee Break smell of coffee?

AJ2009 · 01/03/2023 21:48

I understand what you mean, they can be generic and smell of nothing special.

But tbh coffee break does have a subtle scent of coffee. Not overpowering at all.

You probably mean Lazy Sunday Morning! That’s one of my favourites along with Whispers in the Library. The first time I sprayed By the Fireplace, DH was convinced I’d left my straighteners on and burnt something!

Tinytigertail · 01/03/2023 22:02

I adore By The Fireplace, I also love Jazz Club. For the 'word salad' poster, 'Replica' is a fragrance range by Maison Margiela, 'By The Fireplace ' is one of their scents.

AJ2009 · 01/03/2023 22:02

Tattie I thought it smelt of a bonfire 😂

But as I said before it settled and did smell different but not fabulous

I didn't get 'whispers in the library' with this pack, what does that smell like?

I really like them. Have lazy Sunday morning, beach walk, bubble bath and funfair evening
I wear a lot of Clean perfumes as someone recommended up thread too (I think they do a discovery set as well

evtheria · 01/03/2023 22:06

I like By the Fireplace, personally enjoying smoky scents... though it is a little sweet so I use it in very, very cold weather.

I really disliked Springtime in the Park.
Under the Lemon Trees is likeable, though doesn't stand out.
No particular opinions on the rest, I've not wanted to buy a full bottle of any and was given the small ones I own.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 01/03/2023 22:09

I've tried a spritz of a few of their perfumes when passing through the airport but have been underwhelmed so far. Autumn Vibes was one I seemed to notice people especially raving about. It was pleasant but nothing overly special to my, perhaps undiscerning, snout.

GulfCoastBeachGirl · 01/03/2023 22:10

Oh yes, Lazy Sunday Morning is the one I was thinking of!

The dry down was nice, soft and maybe a bit musky or powdery. Pretty.

Brrrrrrrrrrrr · 01/03/2023 22:13

Margiela Replica fragrances do an amazing mens one called At the barbers which is probably one of the best mens fragrances out there.

Caviarandgelatine · 01/03/2023 22:14

By the Fireplace is my daily autumn/winter scent although I'm wearing Jazz Club today for a change. Really like Beach Walk too

I want to try that one, perfume parlour do a dupe in a reed diffuser and I thought it would be a nice bathroom scent

GreenLeavesRustling · 01/03/2023 22:15

I have By the Fireplace as my winter scent. Love it.

I have just splashed out on ‘after the rain’, and also have my eye on Sailing Day for the Summer.

hennybeans · 01/03/2023 22:19

I’m on my second bottle of Flower Market. I love the smell but I find it doesn’t have a very long staying power. I love On The Beach as well but am hesitant to buy it for that reason.

Galadriel90 · 01/03/2023 22:36

I love by the fireplace and jazz club

TattiePants · 01/03/2023 22:41

@AJ2009 whispers in the library is quite woody but with a vanilla dry down, a bit powdery but not too sweet. Perfume Parlour do a decent dupe for a few pounds if you want to try it out cheaply first.

Whenasuitcasejustwontdo · 01/03/2023 22:50

I like ‘by the fireplace’ but I love the perfume parlour dupe of it. Much cheaper too!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/03/2023 22:57

I love By The Fireplace, Lazy Sunday, Jazz Club, and Whispers in the Library - I have bottles of each. By The Fireplace is, to me, a perfect cosy scent for a crisp autumn day. I was gifted the sample pack a few years ago and found the floral ones quite non-descript. I really like Beach Walk but it is very similar to Tom Ford Soleil Blanc which I also own.

tobee · 02/03/2023 20:44

Ooh this has just made me get out my discovery set and spritz Whispers in the Library.

Misses point of thread but, I don't know if it's just me and my eyes, but I find looking at those printed teeny bottles it's very tricky to read the scent name. As are a lot of them from other places. Maybe I should relabel them 🤔?
